For Christmas I got a copy of The Birth of the Royal Air Force by I.Philpott. I was looking through it recently, and while it reads more like a scrapbook than anything, it does have an appendix of which planes were in use by each squadron throughout the whole war! Now, it might say the squadron has Martinsyde G.100s in use without ever saying whether that is one G.100 or 20 G.100s, but we can still use the data to get an approximation of which planes the British were using during Jul-Aug-Sept 1916 period of this campaign:
