Thanks Matt.
I was thinking of a column on the move in about early to mid 42 Matt. 1/285 sounds about right, for photographing from the air.

Note: Full scale PDF will be available in the BSG Files section, soon.
PS: I added "Blueprint" drawings as backgrounds to the Maneuver Deck strips for visual interest, this time.

I look forward to seeing the painted version.

Looks like some AIM models. I get the same plastic bags when I order mine from Dave.
Definitely Aim Bob. You can tell by the screw underneath.
I love Aim myself.
Rob.
Deck Strips now in the Files section: BSG Raptors and Heavy Raiders Deck Strips
I should have noticed the screw before the bag I guess. I used to take the screw out and put a post in the hole but now just attach a bearing to the screw. Works very well for me. I emailed Dave the other day to see how thing are going with him and he is still backed up with BRS stuff people are ordering. Hope he can catch up and take a break for a few days.
Here is the start of some of what I have been doing this month. First up some Rumpler 6B1's. Since they are seaplanes I put an anchor decal on them.

Ok Bob, Fall In 2020 we'll do a seaplane battle!
But wait there is more. Here is a Russian seaplane.

Have to get the gunner and pilots painted up.
Bob, bring your seaplanes to Gritty Goblin Games in February. We will probably have a need for them.
I will have them there. You just need the movement cards.
And here is another plane for this month. This is my attempt at Alexander Kozakov's MS type G. Trying to figure how to add the anchor to the plane but did put an anchor marking on the tail.

Clipper did a 3D anchor and chain in an earlier thread a month or so back.
Yes he did that for the T&T game. Not attached to a plane but a great looking game aid to take down a tripod.
Since Matt has been doing tanks I bought the game at Fall In so here are some of the tanks I have done so far. Still have touch up to do on many of them.

T34/85 and a Finnish captured T-34. Decals are by MISCMINI.

Same T34 body but with a T-34/76 turret.
Attachment 280844
Here are some T-34's in winter camo. 1 is a captured Finnish one. I like that some come with 2 different turrets that can be changed. The top photo has a T-34/85 turret that comes in the kit. I have other photos to post so you will see a few more.
I like the all white look, Bob.
Looks "awlwight" to me! ;)
Here are more of my Russian tanks.

The KV 1 still needs painting and decals.
I like where you are going with these, Bob! I have yet to purchase any Russian Front stuff...trying to hold off from going down that rabbit hole...:p
All the best,
Matt
Matt I have gone down the hole already. Looking for the Pzkw IV Long barrel and it seems to be hard to find. A game store I have ordered form can't find it. They did get 2 Stug III's I have to pick up. Hopefully GF9 will have some at Cold Wars. Here are some of the British desert tanks I did.

The "Honey" (Stuart) has always been one of my faves.
I think it goes back to "The Haunted Tank" comics of my childhood ( of which I still have a few)
Attachment 280914
There is one at Fort Lewis in Washington that I see from the highway every time we head up to BC
Attachment 280915
They have moved it since this pic was taken.
You have slipped down the RH, to be sure, Bob!:) Great colors on the Desert stuff - and I agree with Pete...'The Haunted Tank' was an important part of my early reading, and then I found Bob Crisp's Brazen Chariots in paperback in the late 60s and it was off to the races. If you don't know it, it's a wonderful book about his time in Honeys during the war in North Africa.
All the best,
Matt
I still have a stack of those comics. I remember I had #1 of the Haunted Tank but traded it for a number of other comics way back before they were collectable. I might have been 12 years old at that time.
So here are some American tanks. I like you can swap out turrets.
Attachment 280924
In the back is an M-10, 2 M4A3 (76mm), 1 Stuart and 2 M4 (75mm) Shermans.
Attachment 280925
Change the turret and you have an M-36
Attachment 280926
And again change the turret and you have a 75mm gun.
One of my all-time favorite books on the Afrikakorps, Rob, is Uniforms, Organization, and History of the Afrikakorps by Roger James Bender and Richard D. Law - I bought my copy in '73 when it came out. The Afrikakorps and my reading about them is what convinced me I needed to join the Army and become a tanker...:p...probably a good think the recruiting sergeant steered me into Intell instead...
In any event, there is a wonderful section in the book where they detail lots of various Kampfgruppen that existed over the course of the Afrikakorps existence. One that might fit your needs is the Afrikakorps Stab Kampfgruppe. It was formed on or near 14 April 1942 and was composed of :
2./Flak-Abteilung 606
one Zug/Panzerjaeger-Abteilung 39
one Panzer-Zug (5 Pzkw IIs)
one Zug from 1./Pioneer-Bataillon 33
one Panzerspaehwagen-Zug/Aufklaerungs-Abteilung 3
This would allow lots of flexibility of models, most of which can be found in 1/285 or 1/300, I would think. For the Flak elements, you could have 88s, 20s, or 37s - either towed or with 20s or 37s on half-tracks or trucks. For the Panzerjaegers you could have the SP gun on the Pz I chassis, towed 37s or 50s. Panzers IIs in the tank platoon could be switched out for Pz IIIs with the short 50, if you wanted to. The platoon from the Pioneers could be represented by Opel Blitz trucks and a half-track or two. And the Recon element could be armored cars - 4-wheelers or 8-wheelers, as well as the smaller 250 half-track. Throw in Rommel's Sdkfz 250 with the antenna on top and you have a nice mix. The water and fuel carrying trucks could be Opels or captured British vehicles, and you could include a tanker truck or two if you'd like.
This relatively small unit as the combat escort 'company' (it is only 5 platoons, after all) of the Afrikakorps HQ seems like it would offer lots of variety for the game mat and all sorts of different targets waiting to be strafed...;)
If you want something a bit different, I am sure I can find something for you - the book has 33 pages of various KG and smaller units to choose from...
All the best,
Matt
Thanks, or should that be Tanks a lot Matt. That is just the info I needed.
I will be looking out for those models ASAP.
Rob.:FOK:
Matt when I did 1/72 WWII stuff I used the Hasagawa Japanese Izuzu tanker truck for my DAK unit. I said it was an Italian truck that the Germans used. Also just picked up my Stug III and see that you can make different versions of it. 2 different mantel types and a 75mm or 105mm gun.
I love those German seaplanes BobP

E.III finished (base is temporary).
edit: E.II is now painted and will get decals tomorrow - Skytrex decals sold through Red Eagle Miniatures.
MS.3 two-seater next, then another two Fokker Eindeckers.
Great paint job Roy. that MS I did is a RAF Shapeways model.
Here's a little accessory for a little something not completely different for origins this year. its a replica of a ww1 tankers face mask to protect tankers from spalling.

it was A LOT of work as I made the chainmail links myself winding it around dowels.
That looks really good, Phillip! Lots of fiddly interweaving of those links as you put them together:eek::p What sort of time was involved in making it?
All the best,
Matt
