Vistaprint has a 50% sale right now. I just ordered this image on a 4' x 6' vinyl banner for $32.49 ($42.71 with shipping & tax)

It will see it's first convention use at Council of Five Nations in September. Can't wait!

Ooohh! So nice.
You have to provide the picture to vistaprint, right?
I've been needing a matt or 2 with 2" hexes, but I'm not sure how to produce the image.

Found the source?

This could be separated into PDF sections, if desired?
Perhaps using this online application a hex grid could be overlayed on the image, and get what you want?

Being that you didn't say what size of mat you needed, I guessed at the above. This isn't the printable version. That is 300dpi and 200Megs.
We've come a long way since I got 1" hexes printed onto various coloured paper to make my 1/285 micro armour board in the 80s.

must be for a ww2 philadelphia experiment scenario.
Or someone adapting Canvas Eagles rules with BSG minis?
Gorgeous space mat, Peter!:sAprvd: I have a smaller one I purhcased a while back for use with X-Wing that I am planning on using to begin with - it has a colorful nebula on it. But I really like this image you're using...:)
All the best,
Matt
Its very difficult to choose from all the amazing images available. I went with something on the less colorful side to start off with. I'm sure I'll get another one with more pizzazz.
Matt, what size is the one you have for X-Wing? Maybe next one should be a bit smaller for non-convention games.
It's three foot by three foot from a company called Gamematz, Peter - quite a pretty little mat, to be sure. But certainly not large enough for convention purposes...I think the 4 by 6 size is optimal for a game of 8 to 14 players.
All the best,
Matt
3' x 3' sounds like a reasonable size for home play. At the moment I can't put up any of my 4' x 6' mats at home. I'll look into Gamematz, thanks.
4X6' mat with 2" grid

At this size, there is a bunch of pixelation, and that is from the original image. The 5meg image on the NASA web site, the best I can grab, is the one I used for this. But at 4x6', it is going to loose quality. I did as much brightness and contrast as possible to get rid of some of it. However, it is still not crystal clear.
PS: There is a 2" Hex grid on the image, but the site upload process has compressed it.
PPS: Redid the brightness to get some more cloud?
Attachment 271510
PPPS: The upload process is taking some of the definition away. Darn.
Thanks for the effort, Mike, but I wasn't looking for a space matt with hexes. It was just a general comment with vistaprint.
My need is for Check you 6 games.

Nice map - shiny supernovas. ;)
What location?

Midway Atoll, 2" Grid.
Let me get back to you Sunday; right now, I'm too fried from OT at work to think (just react ;))
But thanks in advance :salute:
Peter: what product did you order from Vistaprint? Just so I'm clear (see above)

Karl, from Vistaprint I order an indoor banner, no grommets or reinforcing. Pick you own dimensions.
I have three 4' x 6' mats for wings, one countryside, one with the cliffs of Dover at the bottom short side, one mostly ocean with a few islands. I also have a 4' x 4' Rabaul and a 4' x 8' Guadalcanal.
Now I have this nice space mat at 4' x 6'.
It is, isn't it?!
Awesome!!!!!
Looks like new matts will wait for next year. Too much on the docket.
Thanks for the info, though, I'll see what I can do by then.
Karl
Loving the mats posted above. Been playing around with some ideas for a DRADIS mat. Now I just need to find a printer. Attachment 272198
