  1. Dicta Boelcke:

    1. Try to secure advantages before attacking. If possible, keep the sun behind you.
    2. Always carry through an attack when you have started it.
    3. Fire only at close range, and only when your opponent is properly in your sights.
    4. Always keep your eye on your opponent, and never let yourself be deceived by ruses.
    5. In any form of attack, it is essential to assail your enemy from behind.
    6. If your opponent dives on you, do not try to evade his onslaught, but fly to meet it.
    7. When over the enemy's lines never forget your own line of retreat.
    8. For the squadron: Attack on principle in groups of four or six. When the fight breaks up into a series of single combats, take care that several do not go for the same opponent.
9.When hosting, make sure to buy snacks and drinks for your buddies. However, absolutely no Cheetos when handling miniatures!

So I guess I owe my interest in WW1 & WW2 Aviation to my Grandad. When I would visit him as a kid he always had these awesome military aviation books in his office. That, along with models and some prints/paintings on the wall. I guess that figures as he soloed in 1938 and later joined the Army Air Force. During this time he trained pilots to fly the B-17 Flying Fortress. Later, he flew a tour of duty in Korea flying the B-29 Superfortress. I was always really proud of him and his accomplishments.

Anyways, he had a VHS tape of the 1966 film Blue Max, which I think I single handedly wore out. I loved that movie as kid. Its still one of my favs now even after I discovered that the majority of the planes in the film were mockups. But hey, the film is still very entertaining.

My WW1 gaming experience includes Wings (1990) for the Amiga 500, Red Baron (1990) for the PC, Red Baron II (1998) for the PC, Rise of flight (2009) PC. For boardgames I use to play Dawn Patrol, playing both sides.

And now I have discovered Wings of Glory! Oh man, what have I been missing?! Time to remedy that!

Well, if you live in the Mooresville/Charlotte area of North Carolina hit me up!

Go 94th!!
