Assigned to Flt. Lt. Caldwell in November of 1941, Tomahawk IIB AK498 carried his “scoreboard.” It was in this aircraft that Caldwell destroyed two Bf.109s on 23 November, five Ju 87s on 5 December, and his eighth and final victory in this aircraft, another Bf.109 on 20 December. Future ace Pilot Officer John Lloyd Waddy (OBE, DFC) also flew this aircraft, scoring his first confirmed victory on 9 December 1941.
