    UK Games Expo 2022 3rd-5th March



    Great to see such a HUGE show after cancellations and enforced reductions in previous years.
    Below is the shot from just one of the halls, this was hall where where ARES (amongst many many others) were located. The place was packed from doors opening until closing, and speaking to may of the traders (some of whom were there for the first time) it seemed business was booming.



    ARES were well represented with most of the focus on their range of boardgames. The main action was around the new 'War of The Ring' Card Game which saw Roberto Di Meglio acting as host/gamesmaster/compere for most of the afternoon. Unfortunately I wasn't able to catch him at a spare moment which is a shame. Sails of Glory and Wings of Glory were available for play and demo although space was severely limited because of the number of board games that ARES were demonstrating. I would like to call out HANNAH on the ARES stand for tirelessly answering questions, processing the sales and greeting everyone with a smile, well done Hannah.



    Lots of stock on show, which was also great to see - Wings of Glory and Sails of Glory fans had plenty to spend their hard earned cash on (unfortunately not the standalone balloon sets, which were present but still showing as being available in Q4 2022). ARES had a 3 for 2 offer on across the weekend which was hard to resist - especially with prices staring at £13 for a scout. There were a couple of other stalls selling the Sails of Glory starter sets and I stumbled across a bargain bin filled with Spanish ships for £10 and Udet Albatrosses and Von Richthofen DR1s again from £10, there will have been some lucky and delighted customers.



    Plenty of familiar forum members were there and it was lovely bumping into them all (some repeatedly as we navigated our way through the staggering number of stalls. However there was one moment on the ARES stand where one of the forum members, Carl (a.k.a. Clunk) was busily working the various games tables... we saw a meeting of the first ever Doncaster 'Ace of Aces Eagle winner and the most recent...

    Sunday would see a mass participation game (reports and photos to follow) with some 24 players taking part (Sorry Roberto - we had 28 at our recent Doncaster event)
