This one, although a monoplane, was a bit of a fiddle for reasons that I will include in the build notes.
1. As usual start by removing the flash. This was almost flash free.
2. I next printed off and cut out my cammo decals.
3. All holes were extended and an extra set drilled out for tail struts which were not supplied in the original kit.
I bent a wire paper clip to make these. Also as one of the top wing strut holes was out of alignment I drilled a new hole for this.
Then I dry fitted all the struts to test the fit and assembly sequence. All struts except the cabines were too long and needed adjustment.
4. Next I drilled a hole for the flight peg, which I had turned on the lathe.
5. The cabine struts were now glued in using the wing as a jig to true them up.
6. Before going any further I white spray undercoated the whole plane and fittings.
7. Paint all parts not being decaled.
8. Add cammo decals using micro set to all parts excepting the top of the wing.
9. After ten minutes micro sol and when dry give a coat of varnish to protect the decals whilst the rest of the build takes place.
10.Glue on the top wing and support struts from the nearest set to the fuselage working outward. Add tail struts.
11.File down any projecting struts and fill the holes.
12.Repaint the top wing white to make good.
13.Decal top wing using micro set/ sol as before.
14.Touch up any flaws in the decal joints with other parts.
15.Assemble and attach the undercart.
16.Add all other insignia.
17.Varnish to taste.
Apart from the annoying oversized struts, and the fiddle to fit them, this was a straightforward build. The undercart was a lot easier to fit than I expected, and I was pleased with the overall result.
