Reference Format:
Paperback Summary:
On Target No.9 from The Aviation Workshop Publications Ltd in the UK. With 168pp plus full colour covers, this provides a wealth of colour side profiles (plus some planviews) of the aircraft involved in north-western Europe to the end of 1940. Despite the title, it has chapters which deal with the air war in Norway, France and the Low Countries and details aircraft from the Luftwaffe, RAF (Bomber & Coastal as well as Fighter Command), the Fleet Air Arm, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and the Italian force involved in the Battle of Britain. The profiles are great, but the text is a little repetitive, and ambiguous in parts. Still, if you want to know the evolution of RAF and Luftwaffe camouflage schemes over the period, or detailed marking differences between 20 different Fairey Battles as part of the AASF, then this is the book for you. Good overall, but they could have done more with the format and space available.
