The HMGS-MidSouth annual Gaming convention, 25-27 May, 2012, held at the Marriot Hotel, Cool Springs, Franklin, Tn. will offer three different sessions of Wings of War:
Session 2 - Friday 7pm to Midnight: Scenario 1- 'Like Tiny Gnats, swarming around a Giant Bird'
September, 1917. Two German Zeppelin-Staakens have strayed from the larger formation while returning from a bombing run over London. As they cross the Belgium coastline, a squadron of British planes rises up to intercept them. Meanwhile, a flight of German Scouts races to escort them to safety. Brian Hicks hosts this WWI aerial combat game using Wings of War rules and 1:144 scale miniatures. Space will be available for up to 12 players. Time permitting; the scenario will be re-played to have two British Handley-Page 0/400′s returning from a raid over German rail centers being intercepted by German Scouts who’ve been scrambled to interdict their retreat back to friendly lines.
Session 4 - Saturday 1pm to 5pm: Scenario 3-'Balloon Busting'
Early April, 1917. Just prior to the major British Offensive, which became known as the Battle of Arras, the Allies began an aerial assault intended to deny the Germans their observation capabilities. As the day begins, several allied aircraft have found three German Drachens and are moving in for the kill. Defended by Scout planes and AAA guns, these beleaguered balloons try to hold off their attackers and survive the day. Brian Hicks hosts this WWI aerial combat game using Wings of War rules and 1:144 scale miniatures. Space will be available for up to 12 players. Time permitting; the scenario can be re-played having German planes attacking three British Cocquet style balloons.
Session 6 - Sunday 8am to Noon: Scenario 2- 'Zeppelin – Leviathan of the Skies'
June 17, 1917. A Zeppelin, returning from a raid over London, slowly makes its way home. As it nears the Belgium coast line, it’s pounced on by a flight of British planes. But even as the enemy attacks, German Scouts planes are rushing to rescue their brothers-in-arms. Brian Hicks hosts this WWI aerial combat game using Wings of War rules and 1:144 scale miniatures. Space will be available for up to 12 players. Time permitting; the scenario will be re-played to have two British Handley-Page 0/400′s returning from a raid over German territory being intercepted by German Scout planes determined to prevent their safe return back to their home airfield.
