Hey guys! Fantastic site you have here! :D I have a few questions about the game. I have just ordered the WWII deluxe set and if the game is a big hit, I'll be picking up a few more mini's. However, while most of my buddies are into board games and such, some lack the patience to learn a new one. Is there any way I can make the rules simple to begin with but still challenging just to capture everyone's interest? From what I've seen it appears you can alter the rules to some extent.

Thanks ahead of time! (Also if there's a more appropriate place to post this sort of thread then please direct me to it? Cheers)

Welcome to the Drome from the pilots based here in Dear old Blighty Wes.
If you want a prieview of the rules you can download them from the Files section on here. They start off with very basic rules and then you can apply add-ons later so it should not tax anyone too much.
Rob.

Welcome to the 'drome Wes - they should pick up the rules pretty quick, if they were any simpler you'd just push the planes round making machine gun noises .... which alot of us do with the rules anyway !!

Haha good point, the rules seem straightforward enough. I can't wait to get my hands on the game and give it a shot, should be arriving next week sometime.
Thanks for the reply.

Welcome Wes!
As a new player myself, I can assure you that the basic game is very quick to pick up. I learned the game "at the table" at a recent convention.

Hi dude! Hope you get on well with your new purchase. Welcome to the forums! :)

Loads of helpful (and very knowledgable) members on this site, so you can't go wrong when you ask questions. I play WW1, and had my gf's dad playing it over a can of ale.
We played a simplified version (no altitude, no special damage or effects etc) and he enjoyed getting a 1vs1 whooping from the Red Baron!!!

So much so, that when I asked him "would you play again?" he said "yes definately! I really enjoyed it".

Thank you for the warm welcome everyone! I'll be sure to start off with just the basic rules and add in the advanced rules as things progress. Sounds pretty easy to catch on.
Thanks again!

Hello from Central California. As I tell a possible new player or some one looking over the game, I can teach you the rules to play in 15 minutes but it will take you a year to learn the game.

Welcome aboard Wes, glad to have you here. It's a fast game to pickup and a long time to master. Check out the File (http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/downloads.php?do=cat&id=7) section and download some scenarios and rules. Hope this helps.

Yeah I've given the game a few plays and really enjoyed it, everyone I've played with enjoys it. I haven't played the WWI version but I'm more into the history of WWII so I decided to go that way. Might try out the WWI version in the future though, since it really was a magnificent time in the history of aviation.
