Russell Smith is one of my favorite aviation artists. A few years ago, he decided to devote himself exclusively to World War I Aviation. This book contains 44 of his paintings and 20 of his drawings.

The art alone would make this book special, but the paintings are supported by chapters written by some of today's most respected aviation historians. There is also a chapter describing Russell's process of getting an idea from his brain to the canvas - fascinating reading.
