I'm fairly happy with the flight pegs I made to go with the AA Flight Stands.

It takes a little bit of filing to get it to fit, but until Keith can get nice clear ones for us, I figure these are an affordable alternative.

The peg on the base to the left is the short peg. The one to the right is the long peg. These were my prototypes in WSF. The links below are to the slightly improved versions.

Cool! I hope they work well for you. After fiddling around with the, and doing a little filing on the peg and the inside of the hole on the base, I'm really happy with them. So much so that I'm going to order a batch in something a little more translucent, maybe even in FUD.

Four long pegs versus four WoW pegs...

I not only like the pegs, I like the Taube also and wish it was for sale. (why isn't it?)

Finding Columbia made me wonder if there are other makers of 1/144 WW1 planes beyond Kampflieger and Colin? I know there is one gur with very small planes who has done just one pretty rough looking whale...

Run out of pegs but have more models that need them (I am one of those people who want pegs for each individual aircraft) so will get some as a stop gap measure till Heer Oberst's pegs come out.

I want to a) make one I'm happy with and b) see if I can get the WSF version to stay at or below $5. I could sell the FUD version, but that's around $12.50, and I haven't gotten one for myself to see if it's worth the money.

I'm also working on a few others (I won't mention which), including a bomber. I'm going to see if I can keep the bomber below $20.

Just like the pegs, I have no plans on marking any of these things up. I just want to bring neat, affordable things to my fellow gamers.

Cool. I hope they meet or exceed your expectations.

Aren't those significantly below prices for comparable pieces already on the site?

Do you mean on Aerodrome Accessories? If so, I believe Keith has not yet gotten any of his pegs. And once he does, his will be nice clear plastic while these are clunky WSF.

In fact, I'd even be willing to hand over "the keys" to these pegs to him if he wants to sell them himself.

(Like I said, I'm just trying to help out by filling a gap until we can get better.)

I think pseudo is talking about your airplane prices. The least expensive ones (from other makers) are nearly $8 and most are much more than that.

 Well done!
One query about the pegs: Are they available in FUD as if so they will be semi transparent & I will order some for sure! ;)

Maybe? I dunno.

For what it is worth, and for those of you who don't know how Shapeways works, the creator of an object gets to select which materials types are available and how much of a markup is added to each. The interface looks like this:

http://www.piratebrethren.com/gaming/wow/materials selection screenshot.jpg

The cost is a function of volume. That is reflected in the base price. Then there is a column for markup (the $0.00), followed by final price. Shapeways takes a cut of any markup. I forget exactly how much.

For me, since I don't do this for a living, the trick is trying to figure out how to keep the volume down, while not skimping on the thickness of the walls. Walls that are too thin result in the "walls too thin" print error. And I've had way too many of those. But the more I practice at this, the better I get.

For example, I slapped this together in an hour or two. Another hour or two and I could probably finish it.

Then the trick becomes one of "can I get this priced below $20?"

I could make them available in FUD. The price for the short pegs would be $14.25, as I recall.
