Shapeways Order #5 now assembling

With the release of lots of seaplanes, and especially the AEG G.IV (and Zep for those with deep pockets), it's time to start assembling the next order.

Order #4 (the one with the WSF discount) has only just shipped, they blew the projected Jan 11th shipping date completely. However, it's now in Philadelphia, so will probably arrive on my doorstep just before Cancon.

I intend to finalise order #5 at the end of the month, though can delay if anyone wants that.

I would rethink ordering from Shapeways made in USA. Just received my 2nd order. A complete disaster. It took 4 weeks to complete citing they were missing a plane when the package arrived it was missing 2 planes. All 10 had contouring and was below any standards. One Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter is not suitable for anything but the trashcan due to total lack of detail. My first order was great and it was from Europe but, this one was filled in NY USA. The person filling the order needs to be retrained. I wonder if I can request futher orders to be filled in Europe I would even be willing to pay the extra shipping. It is sad for me to say this because I always try to buy items made in USA.

Fwiw, I don't believe any Shapeways planes have been made in the USA. I'm fairly certain they are being made in Europe, then shipped in bulk to New York, where they are broken down into individual shipments and sent out to the customer.

Even if they are, all of mine have been labeled as coming from NY, and I've only had one bust in the entire lot. And they are going to reprint that one for me.

Have PM Colinwe he states that the MG's and bombs should be finished in about 5 day so I think it would be worth waiting for those to come out before the order is sent, because I am quite sure quite a few of us will want them! I know I will. So as Barry said a short delay may be appropriate. Doug

Note that we have not one, but two Phoenix Scouts now, the D.I and D.II as well as the ancestral Hansa-Bandenburg D.I.

I did not ask Colin about pilots so I don't know. Personally I use a mixture of both Peter Pig and Reiversco.

Let me know how they turn out. I haven't tried them in FUD yet, but I can say the fit in WSF is a tight one, both between the pegs themselves and in the AA base. I found filing the inside of the hole in the AA base to be the quickest way to get a good fit between peg and base. Same with the AA altitude dials.

With the problems in the Lewis Guns, cancellations etc I'm putting back finalisation for a week, and re-setting the order list to clear it.

Could everyone please make a fresh post saying exactly what they want as a list, so I don't over-order as I did last time (by an extra Spad A4, HB CC, and HB W-29). Please include total price too, I'm still trying to figure out who's over/under paid me and by how much. It's the overpayments I'm most concerned about.

As regard past orders - we got a 20% discount on some, but I got a $40 credit note rather than a change on the invoice, as I did with the other order. If it's OK with everyone, I just won't bother charging postage on past orders, rather than try to work out who's owed what for the discount, and who has to pay what for postage.

The day after I ordered another 3 packets from Reviresco, I found the packet that had gone missing. Suppose I include one with your order, I think 100 crew will be enough to keep me going for a while.

My Fokker Dr1 & Fokker Dvii aircraft turned up today and I am really impressed by the quality. I was a bit dubious about them considering the amount of negative reports about the printing quality of Shapeways. This is my first batch but so far I would have to say that I am sold on them - can't wait for some more!

I'm glad that the order came out alright for you. My first batch was great and I could not wait to place another order like yourself. The the second order came in and it was complete disappointment. Right now it is either hit or miss. Please keep us posted on the quality of your order when I see more positive then negative I will reorder. My limited correspondence with Colins leads me to believe that he is a great guy and he designs great aircraft models.

That's my value-add. Anything I order for others, if it's not right, I'd just re-order, and don't charge till I get a flawless replacement. They may get a delayed order, but never a flawed one. I do all the photo-ing of the problems, the correspondence with Shapeways etc.

That's just standard upper 5-colour blue, you'd have to cut to fit. I think I have some others though. Crisper (ie less authentic) but nicer looking.

That is nice Zoe. I admit though that I am not THAT bothered by total authenticity - these are just approximations after all. Perhaps when you have time you could tell me what other designs you have? thank you!!
