what rules do people use for this?

a few issues that have come up in our missions are...
a) you probably should dive when u straf a target
b) when the plane is directly over the ground target can it straf it?

what other house rules do people use for ground targets?
* in our campaign we let trenches only deal 1 card of damage, even at close range (we made this rule because the trenches were just too tough to deal with).

There's already rules for this in Burning Drachens, I take it you don't yet have this ?

Ground targets can be strafed at 1 ruler length at height 0 and 1/2 ruler at height 1. Draw cards as normal (1 card only at height 1).

5 damage or an explosion card knocks out a trench. MGs and AA guns are similar, except that any special damage silences the weapon (MGs can still fire as trenches, undamaged MGs fire twice each turn: the MG and trench fire).

Planes overlapping the trench/gun cannot fire at it, but trench fire may shoot at overlapping planes. AA guns may only fire at overlapping planes if altitude rules are in use. MGs cannot fire at overlapping planes.

Note that trenches only do special damage. Damage points are ignored. MGs use the same rules as aircraft, AA guns have their own rules.
