First time ordering Shapeways products. Should I get the Sopwith Triplane in White Flexible Strong or Grey Flexible Strong? Lots of praise for WFS on this site but seems to be some issue ordering the Sopwith Tripe in WFS... TIA

Well I hope there's no problem with the tripe in WSF as I just placed an order for 3 :/

I think WFS is the standard when ordering shapeways planes. Some people are ordering the ultra detail to get a smoother finish. I haven't heard of anyone ordering gray.

BTW: Shapeways is giving about 20% off models ordered in WFS. The discount ends today, Dec. 31.

Thanks Pooh. Just noticed the sale on WFS and being a budget conscious consumer :) I think that makes my decision.

When I ordered my tripes the material ws in black, made no difference at all, finish was standard and I did undercoat in white before painting.
WSF is the standard material,

Noticing that somebody had a problem with the Tripe in WSF, I ordered two in GSF. I painted them PC10. They just fine and I can't tell the difference from some Pups and DH5s made in WSF that I also painted PC10...

The models just need a seal then undercoat and paint as normal

I ordered mine in White Detailed, and it painted up with no problems. It is a little more brittle, and I snapped off the wings, but the struts break clean and glue back easy. Can't even tell they broke off...

The GSF looks about as smooth/rough as the WSF maybe even a little rougher. They still look great when painted though. I think Shapeways is improving in their quality standards.

They look awesome, but is it me or do they look a bit fuzzy at undercoat stage? Or is that because of the photo's being so close?
