 G'day All!
Finally finished my Shapeways Halberstadt D.II
I wanted something a little different to the normal Brown/Green Camo so chose this scheme from the pics of Kest 4.
Some liberties were taken as we do not know the true colour due to the Ortho Film used but comparing with the White colour on the Cross background chose a very light Grey.
I just went with the No.10 & did not try to do the possable overpainted H that became a 1.
All in All quite happy with the result & it will join Col's 2 Eindekers & Halberstadt on Friday night against a DH-2 & a couple of Gunbuses.
I did the wheels white with the black cross but you cant see them from the photo angle.

Pics of Model & KEST 4 attached.

Lovely! Notice you didn't have a go at the personal emblem just under the cockpit in the photo. I was hoping you might take a stab at that!

Great work!

I'm just starting to paint my Halberstadt. I'm going with a sky blue overall with a white tail. I'm going to try my hand at making decals and see if I can add some flourishes that way.

Cool Oh Valiant leader!, looks a bit blue in the top photo, but definately Grey. Looks much nicer than in the flesh yesterday when I was wearing my 4X Hobby glasses, so do most things!!!! Nice job mate,
Look forward to having it my flight on Friday. BTW the Bebe may make it, Otherwise I believe the Allied 'baddies' ie your side may be a bit light on!

Let's get a better look at those signature wheels. Looks good from what I see in the pics though. Nice job.

Nice choice of colour scheme. It will make a statement on the table, even if it is "Come and get me".:guns:

Nice modeling! Interesting that the Halberstadt in the photo is the only aircraft with a number. I guess it must have come from another unit.

Yes Kev, I would have liked to do that but no idea what it is
Just looks like a Black Blob.
I have been unable to get any info about the Aircraft from both Historical Sites I frequent so just let it go.:D

I was going to ask Max to do one for the D.II & the Camo Gunbus when I finish it.

The top one is the Halberstadt. The bottom one may be a blob, but it really looks like the top one is some kind of emblem.

 Agreed but What ? Initially I thought it might have been an old fashioned Hand Grenade but your "blow up" makes that idea a no go.
Have you any thoughts?
Could be some kind of "Witches Hat" on a Turtle or may be just a Lump of Cow Poo!:D

Ken the Cowman might like that one!:cheezy:

It kinda looks like there's a ribbon or banner wrapped around the cone-shaped thing. The witch hat is kind of a neat idea.

Just a thought

The rear one could be a pickelhaube helmet? in which case the near one could be a peaked hat similar to the one the bloke is wearing in the photo?

I found the picture of Kresta 4 to be of great interest it shows the different type of aircraft (4) used which the numbers probaly changed monthly. What a supply/repair nightmare. Are you going to make one of each aircraft for a squadron? Thanks for posting.
