I came across my father-in-laws WWII combat ribbons today and thought you might enjoy seeing them as much as I did. A link to the album is copied below.

The first one is a picture of the actual combat medals! The others are pictures from a website with the name of each combat ribbon (place mouse cursor on each one to see name). The picture of the actual medals is added to the post below. Enjoy :)

The three stars on the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal mean he participated in four campaigns between 41 and 45. Two Navy unit citations were also impressive for the nominally non-combat SeaBees. Your father-in-law was a very busy beaver!

The Naval Mobile Construction Battalions are not combat but combat support units . During WWII they were often right behind Marine or Army Units paving roads and moving supplies up . During the Guadalcanal campaign they help defend Henderson Field with Marines and fixing the airfield shortly after it was damaged . So as I Bee myself as well an Infantry and like you a grandson of SeaBee I salute your Grandfather

Cowman go to a site called Medals of America. They show all ribbons and have some other neat stuff. I have ordered from them before.
