What is your favorite plane of wings of war ? (ww1)
For me , is my homemade card of a triplane

The Sopwith Triplane uses a D deck, just like the Fokker DrI.
Most of them had only one MG, thus a B deck damage, and the Sopwith Triplane also has 13 points.

SSw D.IV (except the D.III looks better).

only played three games (all on the same day) but my favorite so far is the Albatros D.III While I was out manouvered often I always seemed to hold it together long enough to get the kill. I also found my big arcs taking me out of peoples firing ranges often enough not to be a pain in the butt!!
We'll have to see if it remains my favorite as games progress but its gonna take alot to bump it out of my heart...

For me, it's always been the Albatross D.III ...
The sleek lines, the manuverability and solid construction ... I don't ever get to play it much in games as everyone always wants to play them and SOMEONE has to play allied (then it's either an SE-5.A or a Nieuport 17)...
Once I got to go to the Old Rhinebeck Airdome in New York and they had an Albatross that had the lower fuselage unpainted, just varnished .. it was GORGEOUS! ...

I think the Albatross D.Va is the most handsome - but as the best fighting machine, I choose the Fokker D.VII.

For looks I think the Albatros DIII was the perfect design of it's time. The sleek fuselage lines made it look more aerodynamic like the fighters of the near future would be. Yet the tapered wingtip shape, the horizontal and vertical stabilizers design made it look so much a part of the late 1900s. I think the aircraft would fit perfectly in any art or commercial poster of the day.
For it's time the bird made a name for itself. The Albatros could not only hold it's own, but many a pilot went down from her guns. Even in her waning days in the right hands she was very dangerous. The saying goes, " It isn't the machine that makes the man; It's the man who makes the machine." Manfred von Richtofen demonstrated that in his DIII very well.
Fly hard, fly smart, have fun!

Every time I see a thread about what folks choose as their favorite aircraft to play, the Fokker Dr.1 never comes up. You wouldn't know it by the availability of those little buggers.
For me, I'll go with the Camel. The Camel plays with character. The SE5 is great but it's a little...too great if you catch my meaning.
If I'm playing CP, I'll take the Alb. DIII every time. Just so neat looking.

the Albatros has it for me I guess.. the DIII or the DVa.. the DII too cause they all have similar lines.. but I like the swept back look of the wings.. like a bird in flight..
My favorite plane to fly/play - three: #3) Albatros DVa, #2) Sopwith Camel, and the #1 favorite plane to fly/play...wait for it...Fokker DVII.

Most folks play with minis, which pretty-much demands Dr.Is be used.
Myself: I WANT MY HANRIOT HD.1, DANG IT!

Albatross Family
It's a mood thing for me - I like most of them, for one reason or another. The Hanriot, for instance, is one of my favorites too.
...But the Sopwith Camel holds a special place in my heart, what with Biggles and all it's been with me since I was a kid.
I should've mention the SE5a above. I've been flying more Central Powers lately that the DVII has brushed it aside. I do love the Superslide though! So cheers for the SE5a, down the hatch!

I am preferential to the Albatros family. There is just something about the streamlining of them that seems graceful to me. On the other side of the lines, I like the pushers, either the DH2 or the FE 2b. Very much a contrast in styles.

I'll go with the SPAD XIII- Strong... Fast... Powerful... So what if it is a bit limited in maneuver. "Get in... get out... quit muckin' about". For "flitting about", I'll go with the Hanriot HD. 1 (maybe it's just the "Belgie" in me coming out :) The Fokker D. VII is just to... perfect; I'll take a Pfalz (D. IIIa or D. XII).
I also have a thing for two-seaters, in particular, The Breguet 14 & the Hanover Cl. IIIa.

:) Well I have always liked the looks of the SE5a. Big, strong, fast & could take a lot of punishment.
Plus look how many Aces flew it. McCudden, Mannock, Dallas, Jones, Rhys Davids, Bowman etc.It was 56 Sqds main Aircraft & they were consided the Cream of the Crop. :clap:12409

My favorite WW1 plane is the Sopwith Triplane- has been ever since I read Raymond Collishaw's autobiography. It's the only miniature I've scratchbuilt, so far.
My other favorite is Kempf's Dr.1-- love the attitude.
