Andrea has said (http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/719134/faster-planes-in-wog) that we should see faster planes in 2012. No more info on it, so it might not be all the late war planes we want, but at least planes faster then about 400mph.

I'm more than interested to learn more about this in the future. Great news, Keith!

This sounds promising. At this point I am just ready for new products of any sort. I am a fan of both eras of this game and later WWII planes would be really fun as would the earliest WWI planes.

A P-38 might even get me to start buying WOGS!

Great news... Definitely looking forward to that. Plenty of potential custom cards for the obscure/unusual planes in the later part of the war to keep me busy for some time to come. I can feel a V1 card coming on for any Tempest pilots requiring some target practice!

Well that's good news... I do hope it's not a repeat of previous publishers where you have to tack on a year after the given date though!
Been waiting long enough as it is in my opinion... Please, please be right!

Dissenting Opinion: If I want to play Lightnings, Thunderbolts, and such, there's all manner of games which allow me to do so. It's bad enough every WW1 game turned into "DVII Vs. Snipe"; I really don't want to see it happen (again) here.

Sounds great. I will use all the planes. In WoGF my favorite planes to fly is the Nieuport 17 and Spad XIII. The Wildcat and Hurricane are tough to fly but I love them anyway.

I am trying to envision what a maneuver card for a 400mph aircraft would look like. But I would love faster planes.

I can't wait for the mid, to late WWII planes, and the medium bombers. I've played a couple of WWII plane combat gamed and I'm not sure on the possible mechanics of the game. I'm not sure you need different cards. If both sides are using the same cards. If every thing is equal the card size may not matter. I think its more of the speed of the actions that matter only one card per turn? I don't know but I'm going to try some things to see.

The biggest issue is to make sure that you can fly a sub 400mph plane against a 400mph+ plane... as it did happen in the war.

Focke Wulf, Corsair, P51...

Hope this will became true.

Can you image how long a Me 163 plane card would be?;) (max.1130 km/h)

...and the maneuver cards?

I'd handle it with "for each X MPH play one card per move phase", so say a P-51 might throw 2, an Me262 3 and maybe an Me163 4.

Yes, Diamondback, I wondered whether the solution would be for the faster planes to play more than one movement card per phase with one of them being a 'straight' to reduce their manoeuvrability.

Andrea has not said how he has solved the issue of the faster planes. He has said that adding a high speed card to a maneuver would be "problematic since it would require a lot of different cards for the different planes and maneuvers" (paraphrased). With that insight, I don't think this is the route he took to solve the problem of adding the faster planes into the game.

What would be the problem of using larger movement cards? We already have two sizes of airplane cards.

Well, if they stay within the keep it simple standard, then just using a larger card would help, instead of the current card size, use a standard poker card size card. This would give a longer stretch allowing faster birds. More cumbersome perhaps, but would allow the system to continue. Of course we would probably wind up with letter size (8.5" by 11") cards for the modern era stuff.

Well, seem to remember that was the size of an early demonstration game too.... what goes around....

The only drawbacks to using a large sized card that I can see are the packaging sizes have to change and they simply just don't "fit" in with all the other sized cards in the game.

That right there may get me hooked on WoG II... and if they ever go modern, I am gonna have to sell body parts to supply my habit...

Intresting dilema and not one I have have an answer for, think I will stick to early WW2.

Just as long as I can get a Bf-109G-10 or a Fw-190D. Though the Corsair is still high on my list.
