Building the Skytrex Brandenburg W 29 Seaplane.

This is a very tricky little build due to the complex under frame assembly. Not one for a beginner.
254071. Clean up the casting.
2. Cut out the Camo decals (Not provided with the kit.) It is easy to draw around the wings at this stage.
25408

3. Glue on the wings. It is essential to get the holes aligned as inaccuracy can lead to endless trouble in fitting the under frame later.
25409

4. Spray the model with white undercoat.
5. Dry fit the undercart and floats.
25410

6. Glue on the undercart but NOT the floats or support struts.
25411

7. Paint all parts.
25412

8. Micro set the areas for camo decals to help adhesion.
9. Affix camo decals and after 10 minutes Micro sol for better conformity to the
surface undulations.
25413

25414

10. Fit and glue on floats and support struts.
25415

11. Add the recognition decals of choice. Again use the Micro set/sol routine.
25416

12. Glue on prop and gunner.
25417

13. Gloss varnish the model.
25421

14. Whilst this finish is in accord with the high gloss of seaplanes of the period, I finished the wings with matt varnish to subdue the reflective surface.
25420
25418
25419

Nb. The juxtapositioning of all the under frame parts and bending of the float pins to
position is a real pig of a job, and some fine tweaking and fettling is needed. If you have a degree in engineering you may succeed.

A very nice looking plane Rob.
I'm almost tempted to get one myself but have too many projects half finished at the mo.
Your instructional posts are very infomative and inspiring

I have a degree in engineering and I know you need or deserve one constructing some models out there. Nice job!

Thanks Rob I have got one and was waiting on some decals from Reiverso, glad I waited as you say its a lot harder than it looks:confused:

Oh hell, I got the single wing one as a starter thinking it would be easer than the W12 :(

I had the foresight to copy a page of the Reiveresco camo decals when I was doing their W12 so only had to print them out again.

They are both the same underneath George. Little sods to do. Just take your time and do a lot of dry runs at each stage of the build.

Thanks for all the kind remarks chaps. The next offering will be somewhat smaller, but I hope just as challenging in a different way.
