Yes kids, its true. I have a hanger full of strange crates I have built on rampages of late nights and blurry days, in my madness I cannot build just one, but now in 5's and 12's. I would like to share my madness with the world. As supplies last, and repeat builds and custom builds and colors are possible by popular demand.

Damn... some one already called 'Dibs" on some of these.... I hope you have additional Staakens. E-mail sent.

I know it may be premature, and asking too much, but have you ever thought about making any Handley Page 0-400s? If you do, reserve three for me.

Got it! What are the actual dimentions for the Zep?

The L-11 is a type P zeppelin which makes it 29.9" at 1/214 scale, just right for playing on a table top. Here's why: If you build a type P zeppelin at 1/144 scale it comes out to be 46" long-very awkward and hard to move let alone turn on a 48" game table. Second reason is the gun arc range on Wings of War is not to scale. If you use their arcs there are huge gaps in gun coverage, making the ship very vulnerable. In my research i ran across a diagram from the actual flight manual for the zeppelins which shows no gaps at all. Using 1/214 scale makes the gun range of the game work and still makes for a nice size zeppelin which is close to the right size visually and using the XD deck it maneuvers nicely.. That's why. In our play testing we found the size to be just right. TMI?

Well, more than I asked, but definately not too much!

I was thinking of picking up one of the Zeppelins to use for a convention game. I am thinking of an 8 player game, with 6 attackers (three Camels, one SE 5a, and two 2 seaters), 2 defenders (1 Dr. I and 1 Pfalz D III), and I would run the Zep using the random movement rules from FTOG.

Based on your experience, how long would a game like that take using the WOW game mats, with the Zeps goal of just getting from one end of the mats to the other?

Or would you suggest a longer and wider space than the standard game mats?

We have been blessed with a 4' x 8' matt, (I would suggest 4 std matts) which is way cool! Zeppelin flights are normally bombing missions so to one end and back is typical. Movement cards from the deck make it a long and arduous journey, that is where escorts and limited ammo help. Time wise plan 2 hours if all are on task. Watch the swing of that big zeppelin as she moves, collisions can be devastating! Look into altitude ceilings as well, some fighters cannot get high enough : ) As you can see the game takes a very different tack now, very fun and surprising!! Make sure you read the "Zeppelin Attack" thread, Keegan did an outstanding job! Thanks to all.

The Colonel ran a Zeppelin game at Origins this year. Here is a link to the discussion & after action review:

I think your setup sounds good. In his event the Zeppelin didn't actually move, this fight just took place around it. Given the amount of new players it was easier to just assume everyone maintained a relative position.

Thanks for the link to the Zeppelin AAR thread. I've been catching up on the rules thread that was posted after the event, but forgot about the actual AAR.

Ok, I'll stop hijacking this thread and start a new one about my scenario ideas.

So how many are serious about the type R zeppelin? I could stretch my fixtures and drop the axis . . . 44.7" of zeppelin joy? The new build will also include L-9, L-10, L11 and L-12, same ships, different colors and markings for variety. Any takers?

Do you have a price on these David. It may be easier for the chaps to decide if that is firmed up.

The "super Zeps" would run the same price, a bit longer and four gondolas. Shipping might increase, but that is expected! I could add more hydrogen to them and they would weigh less . . . .

Can't wait to see them Dave. A good time for sales as the release date of the bombers now seems to be slipping ever further into the Summer.
