Ares provided me with some more info about the upcoming miniature releases for Wings of Glory Second World War.

The single plane packs are expected to be released in late November. Suggested retail prices are US $12.90.

The Starter Set is expected to be released in December 2011 or January 2012. No price as of yet.

They are also changing the way that they are released. They will no longer be released as "Series". Each plane will be its own release. This means they will be able to react and correct issues on a plane by plane basis. For us, this translates into if plane A sells out, they can reprint and re-release it with out having to worry about stock levels for planes B, C, D. We are still slated to get 4 different plane types per major release, each in three paint schemes. With the new "non-series" practice, this has the possibility to change in the future (just my thoughts, not passed on by Ares).

Also, with at least this first release from them, there are only going to be 8 Single planes. The other 4 will be in the Starter Set. The Single planes will be:

Reggiane Re.2001 Falco II
Metellini
Cerretani

Kawaski Ki-61 Hien
Nakano
Ichikawa

Yak -1
Litvjak
Luganskij

P-40E Warhawk
Hill
Lott

That should leave these for the Starter Set:

Reggiane Re.2001 Falco II
Vaccarl

Kawaski Ki-61 Hien
Kobayashi

Yak -1
Durand

P-40E Warhawk
Giscion

I think releasing the aircraft as single plane packs might not be such a bad move...

Any news on WWI ?

Great news about the single plane releases. That will be a positive for us collectors (they drop poor sellers more quickly for something better), and Ares' profits.

I like it!

This is an excellent plan. I know several people who like the game and would buy a few planes if they could find the ones they want.

Always well informed, Herr Oberst.:salute:

Thank you for the information.

I planed to buy two of three from each plane of series 3.

Now it's the starter set, the two Japs, one additional P40 and one additional Yak.

Excellent change in the production plan; did they say if the starter set would have any new rules?

I like the single plane idea for releases. Should be quicker response to the market place and get rid of the crazy ebay prices for missed singles from a series. I need more crates for fly bring em on :-)

Waitaminnit, does that mean one of each plane sculpt from the original WWII Series 3 is being diverted into the S3 Starter, or does this mean four were dropped and replaced with four new?

The third paint scheme of each type is now going to be in the Starter Set and not as single plane packs.

Excellent news.

It seems that the switch between companies is really having only a minimal effect, and I look forward to much more good stuff in the future!

A bit of odd info here: I stopped at my LFGS Friday, and had the order numbers for the WGS planes from their website, to see if Alliance was pre-ordering yet. The individual plane numbers weren't in the system, but they had a number for each plane type (P-40, YAK-1 etc) with a Z postscipt, and this was discribed as a box of 6 planes. So either they are releasing a diplay set (his thought) with single planes later, or they are requireing retailers to buy 6 planes, mix unknown but likely 3 and 3, of each pilot, which really is bad if the retailer doesn't think he can sell 6 planes fast. Since I'm only interested in 1 of the P-40s, I don't want to leave him hanging with the other ones. Not happy with this.

interesting. even though I won't collect the WW2 planes, I do like the idea of single release planes. When one's out they can reorder the one plane without having to have tons of another plane clogging shelves.

My FLGS doesn't deal with Alliance. I'm SOL on anything but mail order.

Any notice about WW2 bombers?

Carlos, if you take a look at this link you can see a picture of 2 of the WW2 bombers they had on display at a recent game convention. By the looks of it it seems like they are continuing with Nexus's original plans of coming out with the WW2 bomber expansion "Rain of Destruction". Not only the box set, but also minis which is good news if you're a collector like me.

miniature market has 3 of each aircraft models up for pre-order right now. The pilot names do not directly match up to those listed here, either.

I also need the extra time to save up, considering I just bought the last 25 planes this week that I needed to finish off my WoW WWI and WWII collections

Tom I have had my preorder in to Mini Market since before NEXUS went under. I asked how they were going to handle the Startes set since the way the set comes out you don't get all 12 planes released like NEXUS did. They were not sure how it was going to be done but I have been ordering other items from them for some time and have never had a proble. Can't wait until Jan and the release of these planes.
