I ordered 2 Farman F40 from Shapeways on september 18... On sunday 25th of september I found a note from UPS in my mailbox saying they had presented a parcel on friday the 23th...

This afternoon around 14.00 hours I accepted the parcel from the UPS-guy ;)

After opening the parcel I was in awe : they look so frail and delicate

Although I've ordered them in WSF I'm very pleased with them: they show a very fine grainy surface but nothing like I came to expect after reading about Shapeways here on the forum: I think they offer a very valuable source for those hard to get models we are all craving for ...or perhaps I was just lucky ;).

One thing 's for sure : these Farman F40's sure broke every speed-record as far as delivery is concerned:thumbsup: ( which may, of course have everything to do with the fact that Belgium and the Netherlands are adjacent to each other and Shapeways is located an odd 140km from my home:p )

Enough parley...feast your eyes on this guys !:clap:

A fine looking plane.
Shapeways seem to have excelled themselves this time.
I might even buy a Farman now.

Very nice
These were important aircraft flown by Belgian, England and France
What nose art are you going with?
Not sure I'm happy with Shapeways they take all the fun out of scratch building:hmm:
With the size of this aircraft should it's base/stand be bigger than the standard base?
Should this one be considered as a bomber?
There are a few around this period that were quite large wingspan almost the size of later two engine bombers and while they were used in the bombing role they were more observation aircraft a bit like the FE2b.
I wonder if we should have two sets of stats for this aircraft, one as a scout and another as a bomber.
Can't wait to see the finished paint job.

Hi Lindsay!

I agree with you for a very large part, especially the "scratch build" one...

But I think I'd loose my "Shapeways-virginity" on this one!

@Alex: Wingco, do you have any stats? or do you still need to place an "unofficial plane" post in WWI/Historical?

:salute:
