Gentlemen, here are some photos of my Der Kampflieger/Shapeways Caproni Ca.3.

This particular plane is that of Capitano Guido Tarmelli and belonged to 1a Squadriglia based at San Pelgaio in 1918. It should have some more detail such as the motto Audaces fortuna iuvat on the nose but my hands and eyes aren't that good anymore!

The camouflage scheme is taken from Caproni Ca. 3 (Windsock Datafile 78) by Gregory Alegi. Unfortunately it only gives part of the wing but I used that and a photo of a similarly camo'd radio controlled Caproni 5 model I found using Google to paint the model.

The model doesn't come with a crew so I added a front gunner and two pilots from Reviresco. The rear gunner cage was scratch built one by using a Reviresco pilot's legs, the top half of a gunner and some odd bits of wire and am pleased with how it turned out (the model was 95% painted before I decided to add it!).

To give you an idea of size of the model, here it is with one of the 91a Squadriglia's SPAD's (it is worth noting the resin Caproni is a lighter model than the metal SPAD which is a godsend for a model this size).

Carp-oni? Something fishy here :)

Excellent work there Steve, I'm thinking about how to do that aft gun position myself!

I was inspired by the Nieuport thread here (http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/showthread.php?6065-Who-s-going-to-be-the-first-to-paint-their-Nieuport-like-a-flying-fish)...

Carponi in italian is "on all fours", "on your's hands and knees". If yuo're accustomed to playing WoW on the home floor, perhaps it is a wonderful example of Freudian Lapus!;)

Joking aside, a nice model!

Nice work Steve! Impressive!

This ist the model - I expect from Nexus Games.

I gave up model building 15 years ago, so I have to wait for the WoW Miniatures.

Cheers, the model was one piece I just added the crew and slapped the paint and decals on...

Very nice Steve.
I wasn't thinking of getting a Caproni from Shapeways but I may have a rethink on that.
Any chance of you going along to the Cribbs meetings and seeing your planes live.

I struggle with the mid week meetings but if I'm not working away happy to pop up (Saul likes WoW as well, if it's on at a show it's hard to get him off it!)

That looks great! And I love that it has crew in it. That is the only thing about the WoW models that bothers me...they are all ghost piloted!
