I dug out my SRAM kit of the Junkers CL.I and painted that instead.

As would be expected with a monoplane the build was very straightforward, with replacement undercart made out of piano wire and plastic card. Skytrex prop and Reviresco crew were used.

The colour scheme is one for a CL.I used in the Baltic in 1919. I've seen this aircraft illustrated in these colours and also in a similar grey/mauve scheme. I chose sand/green because I intend to paint the D.I (when it finally arrives!) green/mauve. Dom's Decals provided the national markings with the 'V' and the serial markings home made.

The most time-consuming part of the build was the wing crosses. The arms are longer than any of the available decals Dom does, so I had to extend the arms of a standard decal by adding arms from other crosses. In the end I think that I used 4 decals to make each cross in the end.

It will eventually use a Roland type stand as the radius of fire of the rear gun is more or less the same.

Very nice. Where did you get the 1919 colour scheme?

Karl, it came from a Profile Publication - The Junkers Monoplanes. Don't know if you are familiar with them over there, but they were a series of booklets published around the sixties. Usually they consisted of a 5-view plan on the inside cover, and a number of different side views on the back cover. They occasionally turn up on EvilBay.

It is great to see someting a little out of the ordinary run of the mill models portrayed Gunners. I hope you are submitting it for the Herr Oberst's Two Seater comp. A first rate job as usual.

Nah! The comp is for Entente aircraft. Even in 1919 the Entente wasn't very cordiale with Fritz. I do however might be able to find something I could enter......

Those last two photos are great! I can feel the wind....By the way, the "V" on the side. Is it a print on thin paper? Lovely job.
