:salute: Capt Triggers accompanied by his faithful Wingman "Dusty" Rhodes in their Camels & Yorkshire Pilot "Pudden" Gristhorpe in a SPAD V11 (who is still waiting for his replacement Camel to arrive from the Aircraft Park!) were flying an early morning Patrol looking for Targets of Opportunity. The Aircraft were strung out in a horizontal line to better cover the area above the trenches.
Suddenly "Pudden" waggled his wings to attract his Flight Commanders attention to a German Rumpler flying far above but headed over the British Lines.

Triggers led his Flight in a steep climb to intercept the enemy aircraft but as they cleared some cloud became aware of a Jasta 11 Albatross shadowing the Rumpler & no less than the Red Baron himself coming from the right side of the German territory to interfere. Triggers signaled Dusty to head for the Red Triplane whilst they continued at full speed towards the other Aircraft. Dusty anticipating perfectly the Barons next moves closed in from the side & released a telling burst at short range but his guns then jammed & he circled off whilst he effected a clearance.

In the meantime the others approached the Rumpler & exchanged fire. The Rumpler was seen to absorb hits but in return Capt Triggers Camel had the control cable to his rudder damaged & could not effect a Right Hand turn.
Ignoring the British fire the Rumpler bravely continued on & dropped its Bombs on an Artillary Park which was its mission. The Baron had now joined the melee & exchanged fire with Triggers & the Spad. Dusty made full speed for the Dogfight having successfully cleared the Jam.
He soon had the Baron in his sights & again directed a stream of close range shots into the Triplane which commenced to smoke from the Engine Cowling.
Meanwhile Triggers & the Albatross exchanged shots with both taking damage.

The SPAD chased after the Rumpler intent on taking revenge for the damage it had caused. Dusty also used his speed to close with the German 2 seater & again inflicted damage. Triggers meanwhile had used the Camels incredable turning ability to get on the Barons tail & fire a close burst & shortly after the Red Triplane dived down & crash landed just inside the German Lines. This was the second time in two weeks that Triggers Flight had bested the famous Ace in Aerial Combat.
In doing this Triggers had allowed the Albatross to close on him & a burst from the German saw oily smoke billow from Triggers engine as an oil line was severed. He turned back towards the British lines & hopefully to safety.

The other two British Aircraft had used their speed & manouverabily to close on the Rumpler & Dusty was able to Tail the larger Aircraft for a number of close attacks whilst taking only minumin damage from the Observers Gun which then jammed due to overheating. The SPAD also directed a close burst into the Rumpler & Dustys next shots saw the Rumpler crash into the ground at high speed virtually in sight of its own Aerodrome. Triggers had been again attacked by the Albatross at long range & was forced to crash land in No Mans Land close to the British Trenches.
Seeing this Pudden threw the SPAD into a tight Immleman turn & headed straight for the German Fighter whilst Dusty wheeled the Camel around to assist.
A sharp burst from the SPAD's guns saw the German Pilot jerk backwards in the cockpit as one of Puddens bullets hit him in the forehead killing him instantly.

The two British pilots then turned for home as the Albatross continued to spin into the ground & as they approached the British lines saw that Capt Triggers had been rescued by a party of British Tommies & would be able to join them in the mess to celebrate later that day. As they flew back to their Aerodrome, the Sky was clear of Enemy Aircraft & they knew they had extracted Revenge for the destruction caused by the Huns!

This was a most enjoyable game with lots of great incidents & the Huns were flown this time by Glenn Ferrier as Col Jones was unable to attend. Glenn has just recently got the new deluxe Box set plus some of the Aircraft Col got from his Canberra Mate.:salute:
