Blue painted Fokker Dr1 [Archive] - Wings of Glory Aerodrome

Some time ago I came upon a blue Dr1 belonging to a pilot whose name began with a P. It was overall blue and had yellow roundels on the fuselage and in the middle of the top wing.

Does this ring a bell with anyone and if so do you have a link for it?

I tried that one Col.

I managed after half an hour of detective work to find it this morning, it belongs to Hans Pippert, it has a blue fuselage and yellow wings.

I have two DrI's to repaint and one will be Pippart and the other Schroders black ship.

Scroll down until you see the plane. Going by the photograph it seems a long shot that the roundal and wings are indeed yellow, perhaps the modeller has information which I am not privy too or not found out yet. This needs further research.

They would have to be a very dark yellow from the looks of that black and white photo. Playing around in Photoshop, I had to remove 40% of the yellow tones from that image of his model to get get it to look like the photo when I converted it to black and white. However, I the below link did yield some info on Jasta 19 having yellow on there planes.

Yes, that is it, I found it at the link above. I decided instead to do Josef Jacobs black triplane with the god of the North Wind on the sides. It looks good, funnily enough the figure was easy to paint, the real problem was getting the large white crosses to look right.

I don't need anymore triplanes, but I might just get one more go at it if Santa performs correctly :)

Keep in mind that the type of film they used in those times made yellows show as a very dark color.

Having said that and the little I know about Jasta 19, I've never heard of this a/c being blue and yellow. Jasta 19's identification markings were yellow horizontal tail surfaces with a black stripe going cord-wise on each surface (notice the tail surfaces in the picture.) I'm currently at work right now but if I can locate some pictures of Jasta 19 I'll post them later.
