I remember a post of Flying Officer Kyte about Albert Ball memorial:

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/showthread.php?2139-Albert-Ball-V.C.&highlight=ball+monument

I found a video about the unveiling of it:

http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=18223

Item title reads - The Supreme Airman. Sir Hugh Trenchard unveils Memorial to Capt. Albert Ball who at 20 won V.C., D.S.O., etc. and brought down 45 enemy machines. Nottingham.

Huge crowds stand silently as the camera pans across them. Mourners and military people walk through to the statue. Sir Hugh makes a speech then unveils the memorial, soldiers stand to attention behind. The rest of the statue is unveiled and Sir Hugh salutes. MS of the statue, M/S as buglers play. Wreaths are placed on the memorial and a group of dignitaries pose in front of it.

Rob is a declared fan of this Ace. So this post is a little "gift" for his next birthday.

Thanks for this link Attilio. I am awed by the number of mourners and well-wishers who attended the unveiling 3 years after the war, and over 4 years from his - a testament to how his bravery and skill had touched a chord with the public.
