Andrea has been hinting that the up coming reprints may contain new paint jobs for a few of the planes. This is supposedly based on how well the original paint job sold.

With all of that, which of these would you like to see replaced with a new paint job?

1. Francesco Baracca

2. René Paul Fonck

3. Eddie Rickenbacker

But if they replace him, we will not have to repaint him! lol

Baracca does have that going for him. He's as close to a bare canvas as we have.

The Rickenbacker colour scheme's pretty bad - the new Frank Luke one is much more accurate for a US machine, so replacing Eddie would seem the obvious candidate to me. (It also seems a bit harsh asking an Italian firm to scrap the only Italian plane in the range....)

That was my vote, but without Doms knowlege, just didnt like the scheme

Well, if they would put out the HD1 already, that would not be an issue!!

I voted for Baracca and Fronk. There must be more interesting colour schemes for both of those nations around.

Du doch nicht!

Id kick Baracca out too. Its a rather boring paint job especially without the horse (copyright issue perhaps?).

For Baracca maybe, but the French camo scheme is pretty standard and has allowed me to do 9 repaints with minimal fuss. Maybe a different squadron would be nice but it wouldn't be much different.
Down with the hideous Rickenbacker scheme I say!

Drop Francesco Baracca's Spad. Great pilot, ugly color.

I liked his plane. Unfortunately that was the only one I had and Ken used it to make my repaint, of which I love dearly Ken. So I'm looking for another one now.

How 'bout replacing Rickenbacker with a corrected version? And a multi-pack of the postwar "Showbirds"? Imagining painting Cook's myself is gonna make we wake up screaming in the middle of the night with disturbing regularity...

I got one to trade you for :D
I wonder if the light green on Rickenbacker's is too light. Comment Dom?

Sounds good Karl we'll talk soon. Did you find out about shipping to Ada?

The Rickenbacker scheme's wrong in most important respects - the green's too light and not "olive" enough, the grey's a complete fiction, etc....

I think they got the buff color on top mixed up with the darker tan they have on all the under surfaces. If those two were swapped, it would be much closer to what it should be.

Not yet; too much on the plate last week. I'll get to it this week though.

Barraca using the Colonels logic, of course.

Baracca beacause he was italian and because the camouflage of his plane, in WoW, is very poor.

Here a pic.

Sweet Spad. Looking forward to seeing your repaint.

Baracca is out for me, although it isn't fair towards the Italians.

I have posted a thread with the official replacement to the Series 1 planes.

As for the Italians, they get more then their share in WWII Series 3 ;)

I'd like to see Barraca replaced with another Italian SPAD. The one g.paoletti posted was pretty cool.

I'd keep Rickenbacker but get the colours right second time around. There's so much reference available for this plane I never did understand why it came out looking so wrong and it would be a terrible waste if it were reprinted and still wrong. The other two could be replaced – there are lots of famous SPAD aces to choose from.

So, is the bottom side of the plane supposed to be grey, or a light yellow sand color? I have now seen it both ways. How about the stripe on the top wing, is it supposed to be red, white and blue, or just red and white? Is the large number "1" only on the top wing? What is on the bottom of the lower wing? I'm also curious, what is all of the lettering that I always see on the rudder of a SPAD? I have pretty much decided that I will paint Eddie's craft in the "Kellner" scheme, does this sound correct? Yes, I have seen the light green in several shades. More olive seem more in line with camouflage.

The replacements were already selected (http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/showthread.php?5311-Series-one-reprint-repaints-confirmed!-%28new-pics-inside%29&highlight=series+reprint), we'll just have to wait and see if Ares Games goes forward with them.
