A friend emailed me this link and after watching it I thought I would start a thread dedicated to this sort of thing. If you find more items like this one please share them with us!:)

This link is about the B24 Liberator. Pay attention to the numbers quoted and the length of time for production. AMAZING!

Enjoy this small piece of history.

Thanks Charlie,
The fascinating thing to me was that they could crank these out at better than 1 per hour! I've been to Ypsilanti...but didn't know Willow Run was nearby...

I was wondering if they were dropping those test bombs in Ford Lake right next door or in Lake St Clair...didn't look like Lake Erie, not enough shore line...and wheather those bomb casings are still there.

I found a new one...The sinking of the Tripitz (Bismarck's sister ship). Action shown from a recon plane. Includes several other war tidbits and even an American football game between the New York Giants and the Green Bay Packers! The Tripitz footage is short but powerful. When it goes you can almost feel it, I can't imagine seeing this on a movie theater screen...Buy those war bonds!

Here is one more that I am posting because of the torpedo pass by the SM-79 at the end of the footage. Most of the rest of the footage is blurred or the action is out of frame. Max Headroom just finished a Torpedo version of this plane for the "...All the Ships at Sea." rules. You can find it in his albums on his profile page.

I did not know that there was any newsreel footage of the sinking of the Tirpitz. The attack was carried out by the famous 617 Dambuster squadron.

Sunk by a supersonic spin-stabilised super-bomb that could pass through the ship and detonate in the water directly below it. Even me, as a naval architext, could not fail to be impressed :)
