I don't know if any of you have seen the adverts on TV for this but I got the first issue today from the newsagents, complete with 1:72 scale Spitfire for the starter price of £1.99 rather than the usual £5.99. The plane is, to put it bluntly, lovely and I'd definitely recommend the magazine just for it.

Over the next 9 issues they're going to cover some modern (harrier, MIG 15, F104), WW2 (Bf109, Mustang, Hurricane, Zero) and WW1 (Camel, and Fokker Triplane) so it way be worth keeping an eye out for the WW1 planes because if they're the same quality as the Spitfire then they'll be worth having.

It is a pity that they are the wrong scale.

Not necessarily - the site says some are in 1/100 scale, so they might be useful if anyone wargames in 15mm.

Noticed the ads on the idiot box :)

I might take a look at the Bf109 and Mustangs for 20mm air support, £5.99 is cheaper than most plastic kits or prebuilds 'round here.

I'm afraid to say that Del Prado - as I think are doing this as well - are a bit of a bunch of scammers. It's like buying a model etc on the never never. Fraid I've fell into the trap on a couple of occasions when my pocket decided for me!!!!!

Perhaps “scammers” is a bit strong as it could be construed as implying illegality and I’m sure Del Prado are a reputable company. In my limited experience of these things I’ve found the first few issues can be bought in the Newsagents and the rest have to be ordered from the publisher. It’s just one of those deals that’s a bit blurry at the edges so it’s probably prudent to know what you’re getting into before you commit. As usual it’s a case of ‘buyer beware’.

True! Apologises, scammers is rather saying they are up to something illegal. It's as Tom says about buying the first copies and then ordering. Caveat Emptor I believe is the expression. Or 'suck it, and see' to the layman/woman lol.
