Hi Chaps,
I'm sure that when I was a young pup in the late 70's or maybe early 80's there was a BBC series that centred on the RFC and a RFC mechanic who went on to be a observer and pilot. I don't think it was based on a real life charcter.

Can anyone throw any light on what the series was called as it driving me mad trying to remeber the name of the programme, I think it ran for a couple of series.

Cheers,

Aled

Thanks Black Knight, my search came up with nothing of use. It was driving me nuts trying to remember the title and in the end it was so simple 'Wings'.

I have a copy of it Aled and if you search round the site you should find a thread on it. It is in The Officers' club, under the title "Wings. The B.B.C. series."

Thanks Rob, to start with it was just the name that I was after as it was driving me mad try to recall it, but now I've decided that the dvd's can go on my Christmas present list (read this as Dad buys it for his boys to give it him as a present- gets around the wife rants about more toys for a grown man). Cheers Aled

I remembered watching it when it was originally screened <cough!> and got it at Christmas. It certainly has a pacing very much of its time. Some very long scenes with actors taking to each other when they really should be showing more of the aircraft. :)

I hold ‘Wings’ in high regard (I’ve just finished watching the last episode) and I’m pretty sure Rob does too. I’d be curious to know what Black Knight and Pope think of the series once they’ve had a chance to see them all so, whenever that may be, don’t forget to post a comment lads.

Tom.

Hi Tom, I'll make sure I post my views on the series. Like Black Night I don't think the wife will be joining me during my research. Cheers Aled
