A cold wind blew across the airfield as the pilot climbed into the cockpit. A deep breath as he sttled into his seat, it was going to be a long evening. A brief look back at the ground crew, a wave as the engine started. He throttled forward and the craft moved forward, picking up speed the pilot turned his head west and wondered what the night would bring......
Well almost, I put the aircon onto 19 degrees as after 3 years in the Shetlands God I hate being cold , and sped off across "The Bridge" into deepest, darkest Wales.
After much umming and aahhing I decided to at last , work permitting as well as permission from she who must be obeyed, I toddled off to the Mount Ash games night to see if I could meet others who like pushing around little model aeroplanes, Tally Ho chaps.
I arrived, hurrah for the Sat nav, and quickly called Pope who along with Khargor came to meet me and take me to the RAF club where their games are held.
Firstly I would like to say what a cracking bunch of chaps they are, everyone made me welcome and I quickly settled in.

Game 1 was a Scenario called catch the pidgeon, here we had one player acting as a target and two teams of 2 trying to shoot him down.
For this game I decided to try flying an Albatross Va Bohning.
The rules were including altitude with North being the top of the board. The Pidgeon ( Trench Bucket) started at mid way East, my Partner Scott (Scotty) south
I went lower West. The Brits were Aled (Pope) Mid north and Shaun (Khargor) flying his favourite plane A Camel top west.

The pidgeon basically flew a straight line running east to west Scotty moved to intercept and took a few shots as he reached mid table, he then had to look out as Pope moved to intercept.
I moved to intercept the pidgeon approx one third into the table, keeping a watch for the camel bearing down on the same target.
While Scotty & Pope danced around each other trading the odd shot and taking minimal damage, I swooped down straight in front of the pidgeon, unfortunately too high but found myself staring into the guns of Khargor, we both let off a long stream of deadly bullets. (well mine would have been deadly but my ammunition was obviously sabotaged by some Frenchie worker no doubt)
My shots on Khargor came up with the grand total of Zero :(. But thinks I maybe Ill be as lucky, yer reight, two cards 4 and Smoke 3 and wounded pilot ( aaaarrrggghhhh).
I moved to my front and did an Immelmann to catch that pidgeon, Kargor moved to his right. Coming out of the Immelamn I moved to my left and took a shot at the pidgeon, minor damage, to feel my plane juddering again as Kargor swooped in and hit me again another 2 damage.
Never mind I can see Scotty moving towards that pidgeon with Pope in pursuit so I turned to engage Khargor, I fired again, 1 damage, he returned fire 2 damage and fire, what !!!! oh my stars, time to head off thinks I.
I turned left now moving towards the east table edge, taking 1 fire damage. Khargor and Pope now ganged up on Scotty, sorry matey was in no fit state to assist. Second Fire damage and another point, keep moving east. Pope & Khargor attacking Scotty who is taking damage but also hitting back.
Third fire damage comes up Zero and goes out.I look at my plane, wounded pilot 13 Damage, just as I flew off the edge of the table. As it was a friendly ?????? game I was allowed to bring my plane back on (hhmmmm) just in time to see Scotty go down in flames, ooops just me now I thinks as Pope & Khargor make a beeline for me. Iron cross time I thinks I open fire on Pope, he takes 2 damage, might as well be using a spud gun,
both Pope & Khargor return fire, oohhh dear there goes my last points time to hit the silk , rats no parachuuuuuuuuuuute.
As for the pidgeon, he also had a fire and was looking really sick by the time I went down, so game 1 to the British.

Game 2 Photo mission, here a German 2 seater to be attacked by two British planes while 2 German escorts would appear at random. 8 turns for the game and the re-inforcements would roll to arrive.
Pope this time was the Rumpler 2 seater, Trenchbucket German while I decided to go for a Pfalz scout. Khargor his Camel & Scotty I think was a Pup.
Rumpler flies on, Brits pursue. End of the first game turn Khargor & Pope exchange fire, Scotty heading up the middle of the board.
Re-inforcements,I roll 5 needing 6 Trenchbucket rolls 4. Maybe next turn. more moving and Scotty opens fire and the Rumpler takes damage, Khargor opens fire again BOOOOOOOOM guess which card Pope draws.

Game 3 Well Ill save that encounter to see how this goes down eh.

Once again I cannot say thankyou enough to all there, Pope, Khargor, Scotty, Trench Bucket & Mark, who made the trip after work.
Good company, good conversation, good fun. I for one will be back

You obviously all had a great time. The write up was a cracker in all senses of the word. I hope it won't be too long before I hear how you fared in the third mission.
Rob.
P.s. Boney. Why did you just not edit out your mistake about the names?

Had a really good evening and Chris is a true sportsman, even congratulating me on my 3rd kill of the night (or was it 4th?:D)

All my other planes sit gathering dust on my shelf as I just love the Camel too much to fly anything else but a bomber!
