Hi chaps am looking to do a DR1 repaint of Voss's. My Osprey book shows his camo being a light blue grey under coat the "streaky" olive green/brown.
Any ideas about the streaky bit and how to apply?

I recall doing something similar to this on a 1/72 model many, many years ago. IIRC I applied the overcoat in two stages, the first being a thin wash and then, as the wash dried, almost dry-brushing the streaks into it. It seemed to work well (although I would suggest some practice to get the ffect right before trying it ona real model!)

I've got one of the Roden 1/72 kits (pic in my album), used a similar method as David for the paint job, although I hope his came out better:) Suggest Revell light blue and nato olive for the camo, and definitely practice it before touching your triplane !

Why dont you try Warhammer Citadel acrylic paints. I use them for all my models then finish the shiny bits with gloss varnish. Its great for wet into wet or dry brushing. If u get i wrong just wash it off and start again.

One of our club members was in the Cross and Cockade society (which I believe is for WW1 ariel).

He had the good fortune to visit and speak to a young (at the time) pilot who witnessed Voss's last ariel combat. In his words, as close as I can recall:
"We took off on patrol, this being one of our first flights, and headed off. We were flying along when we noticed below us a 'white' triplane. Signalling my friend we dived down to attack. Every time we got him in our sights he managed to out turn, out think and we just could not get a bead on him. Within a few minutes both my friend and I were wondering how we were shot down. We survived and watched in amazement as the rest of the squadron, which we did not know were flying cover higher than us, attacked the triplane. A number of the squadron were shot down, not a single aircraft was undamaged that survived. I later found out the dead German pilot was Verner Voss. My friend and I were the decoys, as the squadron knew Voss would be in the area that day."
