First of all everyone, I am in need of some help please. I am in need of top down images appropriate to WoG WW2 Scale (or reasonable facsimile) of the KM Graf Zeppelin Aircraft Carrier, 2 ea KM LT AA Cruisers, and a pair of KM Fast Destroyers. Also I will need for the British at least one or two Light cruisers and possibly a light carrier.

I have a scenario idea that has been brewing in my head for a while now. But! In order to do this I need some Top down templates of the above named ships. If someone has the talent to put something together in a PDF file I can print out, then I can do the rest.

My Scenario idea is this;

The Graf Zeppelin along with two AA Cruisers and a pair of Fast Destroyers fitted out for anti-Sub and light AA support duties make a break out through the Northern passage out of the Kiel Ship yards. Even though the German high command tried to strip resources from the Graf Zeppelin to be completed, steadfast and dedicated people at the ship yard found ways to get her completed anyway. By diverting material and equipment that were supposed to go to other ship construction the Graf Zeppelin was completed in secret. Navalized Bf 109 and Ju 87 aircraft that were already converted to carrier use and training purposes were loaded up on the ship along with the few Fieseler Fi 167 torpedo bombers that were already completed.
Naval High Command believed in the Carrier project and realized that Germany was sadly lacking in that military component.
So, in secret and in the dead of night the small flotilla makes it's way out of the Kiel Shipyard and thru the narrow straits and into the North Sea.
The Flotilla is detected as it passes into the North Sea by alert British patrol aircraft.
Unable to engage the flotilla directly they shadow it until stronger forces arrive to deal with the threat.

This engagement will take place entirely on/over Water. Aircraft will deploy from the Graf Zeppelin in order to deal with any incoming air threat.
When other naval elements from the Allies arrive then the Stuka's and the Torpedo planes will launch.

I will use the AA ground based cards as a reference for dealing with the AA from the ships.
The Graf Zeppelin will have a set number of Damage points per sector of the ship. I'm figuring at least 3 perhaps 4 sectors on the ship. Bow, Amidships front Amidships aft and Aft sectors. Amidships Aft and Aft sectors will contain the engine room boilers etc. Special damage chits such as engine fire etc will be treated as such on the target as critical hits. Rudder hits likewise.
More details to be hammered out later.
If anyone has any ideas regarding this scenario please feel free to post those recommendations in the comment section below.

Germans:
Up to 12 Bf 109's, up to 20 Ju 87 Stuka's and 10 Fieseler Fi 167 torpedo bombers are on board the Graf Zeppelin when she launches.
The carrier can launch up to two aircraft per turn and the aircraft begin at altitude 2 upon launching from the carrier.
At the start of the game the German player may have up to four Bf 109's in the air at altitude 4 as a CAP.

British:
The British Escort Carrier assigned to intercept the Graf Zeppelin will have up to 6 Navalized Hawker Hurricanes, up to 10 Navalized Spitfires (Seafires), and up to 4 each Torpedo plane or Dive bomber. (Lend lease Dauntless will suffice for this scenario.) and the torpedo variant of the Beaufighter will suffice for this scenario as well.

What scale?

Check the file section for top downs of British, German, US and Japanese ships.

I think I uploaded them into the game aids bit of WW2.

1/200 or as close as possible. I suppose they could be smaller.
I did look thru the files section and saw the look down on the escort carrier. Which will be fine for this scenario.
I didn't see any separate file section for each nationality's ships.

There is a nice 1/200" scale paper model available (check Amazon) of the GZ carrier, I have it somewhere . . . Shipbucket has nice color views too . . .

Sounds like a great scenario but how are you going to play it? I would imagine you would need between 4 to 6 players per side to give it full justice. :)

I have a rather large 4' x 6' water mat that I intend to use. The German flotilla on one end and the British fleet on the other. And yes, ideally I would need at least 4-6 players to do this.
The ships will be more or less static while the aircraft duke it out in the air, and the Torpedo & Dive bombers try to destroy the ships.

That's a pretty big ship; 1/200 scales in at about 52 inches.
My preference is 1/1000-1/1200, which would be between 8.5 and 10 inches.
(though I'm investing in 1/700 waterline models as they are available.)

Ya know... Something that I just thought of. Finding ship model kits and just building the deck up part of the ship (if possible). I think I might look into that.
I used to have a bunch of 1/700 Waterline ships that I was going to use for a different game. Now that I think of it. I probably should have kept those instead of selling them off.

Sorry for the thread-o-mancy, but I love this concept.

I also find that 1/700 waterline ships "feel" about right for the scale, and are readily available.

I know there are some talented graphic artists on this site - did anyone make a ship card for this?

...or for that matter, did anyone build the ship model?

No worries, Sean. 10 months old is only a quick resuscitation for the thread ;)
I did buy a 1/700 scale model, but it (and all the rest) are still in the "boxed" state :hmm:
I was going to use it as a target at Origins this year, but a more interesting thing(s) came up.
But maybe......

I printed out a bunch of whatever company that makes these type drawings when I was excited about creating surface ships.
