I'm in a campaign at the moment where points are awarded for damage done and there's a factor for how much damage has been done to you/how many times you've been shot down. This seems to favour two-seaters, as you have potentially twice as many shots, and late-war era aircraft. If you are shot down, five minutes out then start again with another plane (and you might even change sides, from Alliance to Central Powers, for example). We play you can only use a particular aircraft type once per session but that doesn't seem to particularly balance it. I'm wondering if dividing aircraft into early/mid/late periods and saying everyone starts with early and you move onto the next category each time you get shot down? Any comments/suggestions?

That's what we do with our Ace of Aces game at Doncaster.
Get shot down and move up to the next plane.

You might be better off sticking to single seaters only, to avoid the mismatched VP chances.

Perhaps just run a couple of 2-seaters as target "drones" for one side to attack, then repeat for the other side?
