At Origins I got to fly the new Thunderbolt, very nice. I noticed something strange, maybe someone that knows the characteristics of the P-47 can chime in.

The P-47 has 2 side slip cards in each direction with a fast and slow speed. One card in each direction has a steep diamond symbol. The right 'steep' slip card slow speed is shorter than the non-slip slow speed. The left 'steep' slip card slow speed is the same as the non-steep slow speed. Is this correct?

All the turn cards match right and left so why would one slip be different?

Must check the deck, Peter.
Maybe it depicts a "torque" effect of the plane's monstrous radial engine?

When I noticed it sitting at the table I immediately looked at the turns but they were the same. I was expecting to see differences there too but there are none. Not being knowledgeable about this I am curious to know if this is correct and why.

I am afraid Ares boys will have to answer some serious questions about this series planes.;)

I'll check it out as soon as the box(es) from Keith arrive.

Interesting question.

I like those diferences in the decks. (like the Sopwith Camel's thighter right turns)

I'm going to agree with Nightbomber. If I played one I would play the non-steep card. If I wanted to play the second one right after I would have to play the steep. This could simulate the torque of the engine. Just speculating.

It is a mistake on the cards. Both sideslips are supposed to be the same length (the longer of the two). See http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/showthread.php?25613-Unboxing-P-47D-Thunderbolt-(WGS111-)&highlight=Thunderbolt

I don't use sleeves - so I will put a sticky note on my card I guess. :D
