View Full Version : DONCASTER 2015 - EVENT ORGANISATION

Pages : [1] 2 3

Lt. S.Kafloc

It's official Doncaster 2015 event organisation is open: 12 available slots.

1. Saturday 9 gaming slots. (3 tables with 3 slots of 1 x3hour, 1 x 2 hour and 1 x2.5hour per table)).

2. Sunday 3 gaming slots. (3 tables 1 slot each of 3 hours).

3. Sunday Pm for those remaining the finale game, a surprise game already booked.

Games Organisers Notes:
1. Games organisers should PM me with their game idea, title, time slot preferred, special requirements (ie overseas organisers needing items to run game etc).
2. All PM's should reach me no later than August 15th.
3. Each potential games organiser can run 1 game which takes up 1 slot.
4. Please indicate which day you can attend so games can be allocated, if you haven't already asked for a slot.
5. Games should cater for a minimum of 6 players to a maximum of 10.
6. Any slots not taken by end of August 2015 will be open for first come first taken.
7. Games with duplicate themes, organisers may be asked if they have an alternative. In this instance first posted takes precedence.
8. Each game slot will start on time, organisers are to ensure they have set up before hand. (Help is on hand).
9. Each game slot will finish 10 minutes before the noted finish time for points count ups, allocation of prizes (if any) and packing away. This allows organisers the chance to play in other games.
10. Organsiers can award a prize of their own to their game winner if they wish.
11. Games can be WW1, WW2 or SoG orientated.
12. Further information on the Ace of Aces trophy will be published closer to the date.

So get thinking, get posting and lets make Doncaster 2015 a weekend to remember.

Uhm... Neil, should we, the humble participants, book a table/game as well or you just aim at GMs of sorts?

Lt. S.Kafloc
07-12-2015, 15:38
We are looking at people who want to put on games at present Andrzej.

Once the programme is finalised then people can put their names down for games.

Like last year but we are giving more opportunity for others to run games and are hoping for a good, diverse selection for everyone to enjoy.

Total so far Chris:

Non Dambuster Lancs = 5
Dambuster Lancs = 4
FW190 = 6 plus Steve's tally.
ME110 = 5
Spitfire IX = 5

Could we also add into the mix Spitfire IX's and ME110 (nightfighter variants) please.

Lt. S.Kafloc
07-14-2015, 11:53
Hedeby (Chris) has a near close total of 34 participants over the 2 days. Surely we have more people who would like to put on a game?

If your short of planes I'm sure we can organise between those attending enough to cover your game requirements, so don't let that stop you.

We will have more than enough gaming mats so don't worry about those either. But bring your own if you have one or four.

Wrong Neil replying but, from the post above:

b. WW2 OP Pedestal. Germans & Italians trying to sink the convoy. Gallant FAA and RAF defend it. (0 players)

OK, its pretty straightforward. The coastal craft (two motor torpedo boats and a German submarine) are run like slow aircraft so its pretty much as the standard rules. Maybe we could run one of the Thornbury sessions using that scenario.....

Not as such as this is a 'members only' event - however Stafford Games will be turning up with as much stock as he can carry for both Wings and Sails, I am sure we will find his prices on the day more than reasonable. I am sure we can liaise and if you supply a 'most wanted' list we could sort something out even if Stafford come on the Saturday and you miss them. Or we could ring you and talk through what he has etc... many ways of getting you your 'fix'. lol

With all the will in the world I don't think we will have any more takers for game slots or possibly many more attendees.

So here is the full programme for Doncaster:
173145
Game 1 table 2 might be a non-starter. We will leave final decision on the day. Neil is aware of this.

Ok then full list and what games they are down for: (numbers refer to tables: O1,2,3 refer to organisers)

Neil and other Chaps!

Since this year is the well known 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain - wouldn't it be nice to have one scenario played just in honour of the pilots fighting those days? I am aware of the fact it means a change in the planned games, but what if we play Ace of Aces final tournament on Saturday just as BoB instead of the WGF?
No planes progress, but a simple respawning rule. There could be waves of He 111s, Stukas, Me 110 opposed by Spits and Hurries.
An epic Adlertag Battle I see...
Lots of planes circling above Dover, bombs falling, sound of sirens...just WoW!;)
What do you think?

Flying Officer Kyte
08-14-2015, 00:55
No worries Andy.
It is already in hand.
We are trying to get each country to do one dedicated battle if they have an event during the BoB period this year.
Rob.

I am affraid we would miss something important if we, the WGF/WGS gamers did not play a single BoB scenario at Donnie to commemorate the anniversary:).
I do not want to ruin someone else's plan (@Rob,Neil&Chris) at all, but the final Sat game seems to be more than adequate. :takecover: These are just 2 cents.

Although my game slot is WWII Its more of a "Great Escape" scenario rather than a strictly dogfight/intercept, although I do foresee a fair bit of Me 110 Vs Spits action. :)

I was actually thinking that one of the ordinary WW2 games could be re arranged rather than the Ace of Aces, which if changed would preclude those who did not play WW2.
The original idea I had was to do it at The World Champs, as we have more wiggle room there, and visitors who were not members, but Andy's suggestion looked like a good solution.
I don't really mind one way or the other. It's an event for the membership, not me.
Rob.

I does not have to be run by any GM, Neil.
Of course, let the attendees decide.
There seems to be a lot of time, so let's treat it rather "lightly", like a leisure Battle of Britan for all, even those newcomers to WGS. I picture it as a two team epic game consisting of some bombing runs with escorts opposed by the Few. No collisions, no altitude rules, no advanced options like +A consecutive shooting, simplified level bombing. Just a fun memorable BoB scenario that everybody would enjoy and remember. It is just my first thought, no pressure of course:).
I will gladly play any game (as probably everyone of us will do) and Ace of Aces is an absolutely great project. :serious:

Hedeby

Now :minis: I can understand travelling in cabin baggage although Ryanair and their handling companies (predominantly Menzies Aviation) are excellent for Hold Baggage @ Destination. Not Breakfast in New York: Dinner in London ... Luggage in Mumbai! It is the way hold baggage does tend to get thrown around automated baggage systems and handballed off them and onto baggage trains which would concern me.

I have only ever transported :minis: in their default boxes and by road and had no problems in doing so - but this is very different. Do :minis: travel like this well and what best in - KR carry cases?
