Here is yours truly standing at the side of the monument to his hero Albert Ball.
We then visited the momentos of his career including his medals in the Castle museum.

Rob, I knew you were a fan of Albert Ball, but to build a statue in your back yard garden, now that is impressive, no wonder the Handly Page is not finished yet. Are the benches there so after you have had a few you don't have to stumble inside?:D

Great Photo of the statue, but the geezer in front looks rather stunned. :D

Thanks for that. A good article. I had seen parts of it in the Nottingham Evening Post newspaper, but not the whole article.:)

I'm sure you this know this link (Captain Albert Ball VC DSO MC):

but for other wingman may be a useful reference.

About logbook I agree, it's a great loss.

At first, Lothar Yon Richthofen was accredited with bringing him down. But from the piecing together of all available evidence it seems quite likely that Ball was not shot down at all

fyi, Lothar Von Richthofen did not claim a victory over an Se5, but a Sopwith Triplane of No 8 (Naval) Squadron piloted by Flight Sub-Lieutenant Reginald Rhys Soar, who in fact returned to base unharmed.

Didn't you actually mean stunted Bruce? :D

Yup. Correct once again Wing Co. Stunted it is .... but ever stylish of course.

Also, as I look more closely at the photo, I notice a whitish "aura" (of majesty no doubt) on either side of your visage. My aging eyes perhaps.

Now Bruce

you know why Rob is the only UK Wing people who minis play with no damage cards and the best movement cards.

He can!

Yes Attilio, he has the "wings" of an angel.:D

But you and all of our other Wing Commanders are special.

We salute you in our own special ways. ;)
