A short, fast paced scenario for Eastern Front. Designed for 2 players, requires approx up to 1 hour playing time.

Location: Near Demyansk, south of Leningrad
Date: Spring 1942
Situation: After Russian counter-offensive at Leningrad Front German forces were cut-off at Demyansk. Several attempts to open the corridor to "Festung Demyansk" have already failed as Soviet fresh reinforces have been arriving at the front line. Just before a new attempt is assembled, the order to bomb train station, where reinforcements had arrived, have been issued. Luftwaffe took off for early day bombardment, but it soon appeared that the target is not left without cover...
Axis Forces: 1x Me-109E, 1x He-111 (with two bomb loads)
Soviet Forces: 1x Hurricane, 1x Jak-1
Official rules in use: Standard Rules without altitude
Home rules in use:
a/ Train station requires 1 bomb load to be destroyed (second load is just in case the first attempt fails)
Victory conditions:
b/ He-111 has to bomb train station and return safely to base (exit through "German" side of map)

Credits: The scenario is a rework & simplification of "Caproni revenge" for WGF originaly published by Marechallannes. Thanks for inspiration, Sven!

And now... ACTION :drinks: Oh, no! Should be that one... :guns:

As the sun rises above horizon, German bomber with its escort approaches the target...
147880

...which is defended by two Soviet fighters, Jak-1 and lend-leased Hurricane.
147881

Another look at the target, with train station clearly visible. That's where bombs should be placed!
147882

German bomber decided to approach target from the right flank, while Me-109 rushes towards defenders' planes, hoping to clear the way for He-111. Soon after the first gun burst crosses the freezing air!
147883

The fighters clash in deadly dogfight, while Heinkel tries to slip past the defenders line
147884

This tactics brings a success! While Me-109 is under heavy fire and starts to smoke, the bomber is already close to the target...
147885

147886

...realeasing its bombs few minutes later. Train station has been reduced to a pile of concrete and steel!
147887

Meanwhile the badly damaged German figthter takes a long turn hoping to lure two Soviet fighters from the bomber. To no avail, however. Both Jak-1 and Hurricane take immelmans and head towards bomber as soon as it starts to turn back!
147888

They soon arrive, and a single bomber cannot stand long against two fierce fighters!
147889

147890

As the bomber is down, Me-109 decides to turn back and leave for friendly base.

Let's take a look at main actors:
He-111, successfull bombing raid, but downed soon after. The crew reported to leave the plane before crash, but taken POWs
147891

Me-109E, heavily damaged during initial dogfight with two Soviet planes
147892

Jak-1, slightly damaged during combat, reported 1/2 kills
147893

Hurricane, has taken most attention from Me-109, but look what unsuccesful fire that was (upper row of damage tokens)! The guns of german fighter require immediate attention of mechanics in the base! Soviet pilot reported 1/2 kills

Glad, you liked it. I'll try to bring more EF actions.

Yesterday me and my son had some spare time and decided to fly short mission. He wanted to baptise in fire his newly acquired Jak-1, so we went for EF scenario. As we had just approx. 1 hour we decided to simplify it as much as possible, hence just basic rules without altitude. But I'm sure one can have even more fun, when altitude rules will come to play.

Nice Ostfront AAR Rafal!

Did you use aim optional rules for the He.111 gunners?

 Rafał. Excercise, excercise, you will need these bombing abilities soon;)
Great report. The Hurricane pilot was a lucky bastard, almost as good as me in Doncaster;)

Hello Sven. We did not use Aim rule at all, actually. Neither Tailing one. They were left over in description after I've copied it from other scenario. I've made ammendment to my first post.

Aye, Sir! :salute: Doing my best. As you can see, I've made a bomb direct hit during first approach this time. I'm making progress...

That is a straightforward Eastern Front scenario. I like it! I have an EF scenario in mind for a convention next spring that I hope to run.

Thanks! We had fun playing it.

Any ideas for convention scenario already?

Very enjoyable scenario Rafal.
You might spice up the bomber role by adding a little AA fire next time.
Rob.

Sure, we will. We just had approx 1 hour spare time before Poland vs Scotland European Championship Qualifier Match so we decided to simplify the scenario to fit into given time. I think it can be enriched by adding not only flaks, but more fighters and altitude rules.

Anyway, I'm glad you liked the scenario.

Very nice, I think I will try this at our house w/ my 10 year old. The Russians will get a lend-lease spitfire CARD as I don't have a hurricane plane and my ME109 will have to be a card as well. Thank goodness I got the Spitfire & ME-109 blister packs!!

It will give us time to practice our bombing.
