I love it! This has me thinking that the Siege of Malta is a very powerful narrative involving airplanes, judging by the number of us who have painted planes specifically for the area and have developed and run Malta scenarios (I will next be playing in such a scenario run by Richard Schwab at Guns of August in a few weeks).

Not meaning to contest your paint schemes, but just trying to match colours. I found a website that matched historical British colours to RGB values. This is so graphic images would (within reason) match actual historical colours. See the following:

1. This is Dark Sea Grey and Light Slate Grey:

There is no dark slate grey in the above source.

2. 'Historical' Dark Slate Grey and Extra Dark Sea Grey:

The card I posted is in this scheme.

3. The closest I can match you colour schemes with 'Historical' colours, is Medium Sea Grey and Extra Dark Sea Grey:

All are 806 Sqn Aces, and Orr is recorded as part of the CAP for Taranto. These guys should be useful for Malta campaigns.

Not only sorting my plane cards out but doing research on pilot's names as well.

Names for the Albacore pilots are hard to come by. 828 NAS was prevalent at Malta, but no names besides the Cmdr.

Again Mike thanks very much. The names are not really relevant as I will be using them in my Malta scenario and as pilots get killed off new ones will be flying the planes.

If you let me know the font you use, I can change the names to suit the action. Even I can just about manage to alter the information block.:confused: It's just the aircraft and artwork I'm not up to speed with.:eek:
Yesterday I found out how to add and remove layers. It was a big break through for me.:clap:

Should I send you my files? If you are using Photoshop, let me know the version, and I will save files in it. I will add in the font, too.

If not Photoshop, I can save layers in a seperate image file, and you can stack them into whatever program you are using.

I could do up a tutorial on changing colors on layers, too, using the paint bucket. A couple clicks, and, voila, a new paint scheme!

Mrs K has been using it for some time for her Embroidery designs,and although she can help to a certain extent, her areas of expertise don't always coincide with the ones I need to know about for my cards.

Just trying to get a grip on what Photoshop Elements can do, and I found this:

The narrator speaks fast, but you can rewind and listen again, or even pause and go try the techniques, coming back to watch or re-watch the tutorial.

This is very basic, but I use layers for all the separate elements of a card. Backgrounds, icons (each separate!), Firing arcs, colour schemes (each separate colour scheme for the same mark of plane), Shading (sometimes several layers of shading, depending on the plane, and how many wings or overhanging parts), Plane information (separate for each mark), Units and crews, Card index, Arrow and red center dot. Lots of layers.

I could try sending you a copy of a file of the Fulmar, and see if you can upload it. We could discuss how to adjust some of the layers once you can see the mess. For changing colour schemes, all you would need to do is duplicate a colour scheme layer, change the colours, and hide the one you didn't want to use. You would only change other layers, if you need to change units or crews.

Fantastic repaints - I always get the Fairey Fulmar mixed up with the Fairey Firefly so this thread is teaching me :)

Reading it with great interest as I once owned 1/72 construction kits of both aircraft but only ever built the Firefly - kit by SMER. The other was by NOVO (now Eastern Express.)
