That looks so much better than my plain-white test print! :-) Well done.

A Benz-engined B.I over the Western Front in 1915, its crew hopeful that the additional power of their engine will allow them to avoid English Vickers. Model by Reduced Aircraft Factory; national insignia from Dom's Decals and Mehusla.

Those early-war planes were so distinctive! Excellent paint job. I really appreciate it when I get to see a model come to life like that, since I don't do much painting myself.

Your models are always a pleasure to paint, Daryl. I also would recommend your and Decapod's designs for two-seaters to anyone dipping their toes into Shapeways, since several of the real aircraft (those built by Albatros, for example) were laid out in such a way that adding pilot and observer figures to 1/144 models is daunting, to say the least :) .

Good-looking Albatros there Darryl.

I hope to be able to start on my early stuff soon, but it's looking like after Doncaster now.

This is a Shapeways Albatros B.I reconnaissance airplane from Reduced Airplane Factory painted in 1919 Lithuanian colors. By April 1919 (according to the White Falcons article on www.worldatwar.net ) the Lithuanians were flying German-supplied Albatros B.IIa trainers, so the B.Is were probably long gone but you never know. One distinction between the two types is the B.Is had three-bay wings (three pairs of struts per wing) while the B.IIs had shorter, two-bay wings. Per Blue Rider Publishing, “Lithuanian Air Force 1919-1930”, at this time the Lithuanians repainted over the German markings with a diamond shaped pattern of yellow outer border, green inner border and a red interior. The short black lines around the corners of the diamond are the residual outlines of the German crosses underneath.
