Minor trivial note: N1K2 would be a floatplane, N1K2-J was the landplane version.
IJNAF designators, using this as an example...
N 1st letter = original design mission (N=floatplane fighter)
1 1st number = design generation (1st round of floatplane fighters)
K 2nd letter = manufacturer (K=Kawanishi, IJN seldom bought Kawasaki aircraft IIRC)
2 2nd number = variant of base design
- marks suffix added for repurposed mission
J suffix = new mission (J=land-based interceptor)
Another example, the J1N1-S Irving:
J = land-based interceptor
1 = 1st generation of them
N = Nakajima
1 = 1st variant
-
S = land-based nightfighter

Thanks for the correction!
Here are two Ni1K1 Violet Lightnings somewhere near the Philippines, late 1944. Shapeways WSF models by New Aragon Mechanical Works (Carlos was kind enough to do a re scale of his 1/285 version), radio masts added, Tamiya and Vallejo paints, Miscellaneous Miniatures decals.

Great flight of Georges Dave. I don't think I've seen this thread before, damn, more planes to acquire!
They look great. How are the BRS to scale?
284222 BRS claim 1/200 scale and as far as I'm concerned they fit right in with Ares.

Good to know as these are not done by Dave at AIM. BRS might give us more planes not available elsewhere, I really like that possibility.
They are metal, so when you put the ball on them it better be dead on balanced so they don't tip on the magnet. I missed-placed several and just went to flat magnets.
