You can say that again.
The flying matchsticks are wonderful.
How is it possible that such a good aircraft was so poorly taken care of from the designers?

It really wasn't a good aircraft from the start; bad trouble-shooting during development and over-optimism about the problem fixing doomed it. But even with the best minds fixing it, the basic design flaws would have left it a mediocre bomber that could never have filled the role intended.
Now Clippers' builds, they're magnificent!

I wouldn't completely agree on that. Originally it was an excellent design, fast, durable and with a good payload.
It was the paranoid idea that all bombers should be dive bombers that redirected it's design and couldn't take it out from the mud.
