OK, I thought it was bad when I got pasted yesterday playing a bombing mission against my son, but today's drubbing made yesterday look like a picnic. This time I was the bomber (a UFAG C.1) with two Fokker Dr.I escorts. My son piloted a Nieuport 17, a Sopwith Camel and a Sopwith Snipe in defense. The mission started out fine, until I actually encountered an enemy plane! A collision quickly cost my bomber 8 points and a few turns later another collision dropped him 6 more with engine damage, and I took another 1 point from fighter bullets in the same round! Now my bomber is at 2 with two fighters on his tail! Next maneuver round I was peppered for another 5 points and my UFAG dropped from the sky like a clumsy squirell on a highwire! My Dr.I's were doing better, but my sons planes seemed unscathed by my constant hits. To say he had the luck of the draw is an understatement of epic proportions!! His Snipe took NINE damage cards for a total of 4 points of damage (0,0,1,0,1,0,1,0,1). Even when his Snipe and Camel collided he still managed to stay alive, despite taking a 10 point damage card to the Snipe. His Nieuport and Camel never went below 6 points and overall he was never in jeopardy of losing a plane. I, on the other hand, drew a total of THREE 0 damage cards for all three planes during the course of the fight (that's about 18 damage cards). My Kempf Dr.I took TWO 5 point damage cards (the only two in the deck!), along with a 3 point engine damage card and another 3 points of damage which sent him plummeting to the ground. Richthofen (my other Dr.I) made a valiant last stand against the final three planes but with my son drawing 0's and 1's with all my hits, I was eventually overwhelmed and went down in flames. I'm getting VERY frustrated with the bad luck I've had lately with the damage decks! Please tell me that I'm not the only one to go through this kind of string of bad luck!

Ok, I will tell you. You are not the only one going thru this string of bad luck. But I would like to add a bit of advice, Take your son to Vegas, quick!

Nope, you are not the only one! In fact, I think there is a thread on here some place that has a lot of us talking about how often we get blown up! It's pretty long as well!

Do not be displeased with your bad luck; rather be thankful that you have such a lucky son. This is good for you, as it means you don't have to worry about taking it easy on the little runt. You're now free to use all the resources at your disposal to try and crush him mercilessly. You'll probably still lose, but tell me you'd be having as much fun if the roles were reversed...

Well put, Todd. I WILL use all my resources to crush him without mercy . . . oh wait, I've already been doing that, minus the crushing part. The kids a darn good pilot and every bit my equal. I'm not worried. I'm sure the winds will shift in my favor soon enough. And the best part is he's not a sore loser. He wins with a smile and loses with a smile.
Thanks for a good laugh.

If it makes you feel any better (it probably won't),I regularly get beat by my 15yr old son and his friend. Heck, I regularly get beat by my 10yr old daughter!

On a side note, his success will only encourage his interest in the game.:) And I think that is a good thing.
