Hello,

Here is my first quizz, dedicated to my country...

1) Some french escadrilles use a stork for insignia, how many ?

2) Some of these storks had a nickname. what was these nickname, with the description (or pix) of the stork ?

3) The escadrilles were part a fighting group. What was the name of this group ?

4) This group had a total record victories of 290 planes and balloons. Can you give the name of 4 aces of this group ?

Thanks for your research !

1. Four--Escadrilles 3, 26, 73 and 103 (omitting "type" prefixes of N, SPA, etc since they changed with the equipment), all in Groupe de Combat 12 'Les Cicognes', hence the insignia.

2. Left for someone else, but each squadron had their stork in a different pose.

3. See 1.

4. Georges Guynemer, Alfred Heurtaux, Rene Fonck, Albert Deullin, and a number more.

IIRC, GC 12 was the "Experts' Group", kind of like a French answer to what Richthofen did with his JG nr 1 "Flying Circus". Was just reading the Osprey book on them again...
