In just over a month we will be getting some of the finest fighters ever created released as miniatures. Even further down the road Ares has shown us plans for two heavies, one being the B-17. The Fw-190D (Dora) would often be found trying to wrestle control of the skies away from the Mustang, but would not often directly attack the bombers, this job being left for highly modified Fw-190A-8s known as Stormbocks. With over 200kg of armour added and many different attachments available, the Stormbock proved to be a very formidable opponent of the heavy bombers. But with the increase of weight and a already lackluster high altitude performance, would prove to be easy targets for marauding allied fighters, thus necessitating the need for escorts of their own in the for of Bf-109G/K and Fw-190Ds. I thus propose the following profile and scenario for the Stormbock.

HP 22
Deck H
Close range- CCDD
Long range-CD
Max Alt-12
Climb-4

Using "Fire From the Sky" optional "Full Load" rule on page 18 for bombers the Stormbock can also take an additional 2 20mm cannons (Mounted in under-wing pods) for a total of CCDDDD close and CDD long. The "Full Load" rule applies all game. Alternatively the Stormbock can choose to take two Werfer-Granate 21 rocket launchers. These 112kg rockets with a 40kg warhead were usually preset to detonate at 600 metres. A near miss from one was usually still enough to heavily damage a bomber. Using standard rocket rules, with no pre-measuring, a direct hit inflicts two D tokens damage and any bombers withing close range (even without a direct hit) receive two C tokens of damage. Once both rockets have been fired discard "Full Load" rules.

Now at this point you might be thinking "A little too over powered". Because it was, when used against bombers. But the following suggested scenario might put things in a little perspective.

In late 1944 to early 1945 German fighters were heavily outnumbered so I propose the following scenario

Allies:
2 Flights of Heavies (B-17s)
2 Flights of Fighter Escorts (P-51Ds)

Axis:
1 Flight of Sturmbocks
1 Flight of Escorts (Fw-190Ds)
An agreed to amount of Flak units.

With the low amount of the speed and maneuverability of the Stormbocks, and Mustangs that get to them will have little difficulty taking them out. But any Sturmbocks that manage to reach the bombers will be able to unleash devastating attacks.

With the fighters only a month away but the bombers a little further away I plan on getting some B-25s and Air 200 Fw-190s (The only current 1/200 190 model I can find) to play test the proposed rules and iron out any wrinkles.
