Fathers day in the UK today -

It has brought me Nungessers Nieuport 17 (in line for a repaint to Mr Balls a/c) from my daughter and Fonks Spad XIII is on the way from my son at Uni. (and...I bought myself Lufberys Nieuport too !!) :)

Were any other dads lucky enough to get spoiled by their kids today? :D

You are a lucky guy.
But the real "spoil" is having a father that plays with you. Fewer and fewer do, your kids are very fortunate ones.

Dave!

I learned years ago while waiting for DOW to come out. All of their release dates are very optimistic but not realistic.

I got a rock. :(

On the other hand, I ordered 101 of the Col.s bases done up for decimal altitudes, which should be brilliant.

Steve!

You are implying that 80% of the movie is the equal to My Darling Lilly?

Don!

Pace yourself while you drown you sorrows! ;)

'Fraid so! In places it makes My Darling Lilly look good. My opinion only of course, but you can't fault the aerial (CGI) sequences.

You mean Julie Andrews might have improved it as the love interest?:)
I knew the CGI effect were good from the previews.

Dave!

Yeah, no worries about that... she got the brand right and was really sad she got the wrong one. It's getting exchanged tomorrow!

Rich

In her day, I wouldn't have said no, despite the fact that I've never seen the 'Sound of Music' :o.

I just find it intensely annoying that they spend squillions of pounds/dollars/euros on accurate aircraft reproductions and CGI dogfights, then ruin the film with a completely incomplete/inaccurate history of the man, and resorting to comic book characters - the Lanoe Hawker character was completely OTT.

Rant over! :D

Steve!

I finally had a chance to watch The Red Baron. I forced my wife, my sister and two great nieces to watch it. Misery loves company you know. Now i know why it was never in general release over here. They did not want to waste the advertising money.
My forced audience was riveted to their seats by the movie. Sleep will do that to you!
My old friend Von Richthofen and Brown was a more accurate movie! Roger Corman shot that for peanuts with props left over from the Blue Max.
