IK3, Yugoslav constructed fighter, used in April War, 1941.

Unfortunately, it never entered massive production.

Looks like a Shapeways request. ;)

Looks like a cross between a Hawker Hurricane and a Morane Saulnier MS.406.

Unofficial stats for the IK-3:

Manouver Deck: C (manouverable, top speed 526kmh)
Damage Points: 17
Firepower: AC/B (1 x 20mm, 2 x 7.92mm)
Climb Rate: 3 (14.3 m/s)
Maximum Altitude: 10 (8000 metres)

Karl,
My hobby friendly SWMBO noted I should slow down a bit. So, I'm going undercover for a few months. Or am I? :)

Carl, I found some different data about ceiling and climb rate.

Ceiling 9400m (which could be possible) and 12000m (which I don't believe in).

Climb rates are 7:49 min (it's 10,65 m/s) and app. 7:00 min (11,9 m/s) to 5000m.

Here are some pics - prototype production in Rogozharski factory in Belgrade, and cockpit of IK-3:

And for those truly on the dark side, made by AEROPOXY (unfortunate name!) as a 1/144 scale kit.

I did not spend much time comparing stats for the IK-3, but the climb rate in particular sounds like it may be more appropriate given the combat reports indicating it was inferior to the Bf 109E.

In that case I'd give it a climb rate 4 and max altitude 11.

that's what I had in mind, too.

'Cos you can buy it now, rather than wish for it on variable-quality Shapeways!

I edited your post with later agreed values, I hope you don't mind.

I've done some additional research, and found out that IK3 actually had better maneuverability than Me 109 E3, (still worse than Spit) but it was slower (top speed 526kmh). Is it still C deck, or some other?

One important thing. For some reason, IK3 was never armed with incendiary ammo. Would it reflex damage she makes, and how?

I'd stay with the C deck, myself. The lack of incendiary ammo doesn't effect the gun ratings in WGS that I know of, so don't worry about it.

I'm not allowed to confirm, deny, or comment in any way anything concerning existence or non-existance of airplane prototypes :)

Looks like the front end of a Spitfire and the rear end of a Hurricane joined just aft of the cockpit. Nice find for 1/144th though.

Nice-looking; but like just about every other Euro bird of the period, badly underarmed.

First test - 1/144 scale... 1/200 to follow later

Edit - looking a few more pics there might be a couple more changes to the exhausts and vents later today. The drawings I had were not all that good.

Any plans on reducing the 1/144 LaGG 5 to 1/200?

I've got to get around to finishing off the La5 and La5FN first. No plans for the LaGG just yet, have to finish the SB2 also.

Just too many models on the go at the moment :)

It looks a lot more useful than the australian home grown Boomerang aircraft.

Not really -- the IK-3's firepower is anemic (1x 20mm; 2x 7.92mm); it's slow (~320 MPH top-end); it has practically no range (~310 mi.); and in general, it's inferior in every respect to the units it would be fighting. A Hurricane or P-40 would be a far-superior option.

It was not under-armed, at least comparing to contemporary Me 109, and it had success in direct clashes with the latter, although slower. If somehow survived, it would probably be developed to gain extra fire power... Even Hurricane started with poor fire power and later was given 4 cannons.

Main problem with IK-3 is that it never actually had a chance to develop. And without further developing, it would soon become obsolete. But we'll never know.

Already fired the rep gun for the IK-3 scenario. ;)

There were already acft. with 4-6 0.50s, or 6-8 0.30s; by that point, even the -109s had 4-5 guns (-E models). So the IK-3's firepower was, even by 1941 standards, not good. Then there's the other problems mentioned; I doubt developing the IK-3 further would have been justified.

I'm aware of that and i do mostly agree. Nevertheless, it had good performance vs. Me 109. It was not inferior, for sure. I believe model could be improved, even as hypothetical "IK-3 B, C, D..." or so. That's what I had in mind when talking about development.

It could be nice to have that model in 1:200 scale.
I like these "what if" options with less known planes of WWII. Four Shapeways PZL P-24 in 1:200 scale are on my workbench nowadays.

I didn't want to open new topic, so I decided to ask question here.

Should Hawker Hurricane Mk IIc armed with 4 x 20mm Oerlikon guns have firepower CCCC / CC or I'm wrong?

And what maneuver deck it would use?

Marechallannes

I'm shure that Rob presented a pair of cannon armed Hurricanes in the "Fire in the Skies" section.

The Hurries crushed a few Italian armored cars in North Africa.

Unfortunately I did not found it. :hmm:

You're right on the guns rating; if you have a standard Mk.IIc, then the C deck can still be used. If you have a tropical version (with the big undernose filter) then a K deck is appropriate. In both cases, drop the ceiling to 11.
