Yep, you might as well change my user name to Pfalzman or Pfalzlover or ICanFindNoPfalz. For those of you who care about the Bavarian company Pfalz, which is your favorite Pfalz aircraft of the war?

Sorry for the typo!

I'm for the D.XII; though the D.XV would have been great, if there was time.

Well for looks it has to be the D111 with the a pipping the plain 111 for usefulness. If we're talking about a lawn ornament then it's the D111 every time.

If I had to FLY one I'd want a DVIII or DXII. Force me to choose....DVIII, astonishing climb, and a reliability problem that would keep me in the bar more.

 D.IIIa for me. They were a true work horse of the Jastas & the pilots who got to grips with them liked them more than the Albatross. You could really dive without your wings coming off!

The D.IIIa for me. Perhaps not the greatest fighter of its time, but it was reliable and capable of mixing it with the opposition. Most importantly, it didn't shed the bottom wing like the Albatross and it just looks good.

D.IIIa for me! The Albatros D.Va used to be my favorite CP aircraft in terms of aesthetics, but the Pfalz has taken over that spot in my mind. It looks just a little more graceful, IMHO.

Excellent pic!!!

Thanks, Darryl. I'm pretty happy with how both the model and the photo's turned out. You can really see the graceful lines of the D.IIIa.

Indeed! The III and IIIa were beautiful aircraft. I also like the Dr.I and D.VIII designs. Seemingly they could make a good looking plane, even if they were of average performance.

Personally, I like several of the designs. The Dr.1 is a sweet looking bird, the D.III series very sleek, but it is the D.VIII that I seem drawn to the most. It looks like a robust and fast fighter, like the SS D.III/IV. It also saw a smidge of duty, where the Dr.I of course did not.

Thanks, all, for participating!

D111a for me for most of the reasons already stated

The D.III and IIIa are graceful planes; the D.XII and D.XV have that mean, Teutonic look. Stronger than the Fokker D.VII, and almost (just as, in the case of the D.XV) as maneuverable.

With all due apologies to Sir Mix-a-lot...

I like Pfalz planes
And I cannot lie
You other pilots can't deny
That when a plane flies in
With an itty bitty wing
And a Spandau in your face
You get shot down...

I really like the looks and the late war capabilities of the D.XII & D.XV. I'm going with the D.XV since it just missed active combat service by a few days, with the type just arriving to the front as the war ended.

I've managed to track down and get a D.III (Klein's) for WGF. Nowto choose a paint scheme.

The tail feathers on mine are out of whack- the rear fuselage seems to be twisted to starboard. Is this a common problem with this model? I can fix it before I do the repaint, I was just surprised at how far out it is.

Cheers.

Dal.

Must be a very common issue. All three of my Pfalz's have the same issue as you describe. Maybe they will do a reprint and correct that problem. Still like the planes though!

Like the DIIIa, but, really dig the DXII.

Would love to see a D.XII made by Ares as I will admit...I am a bit hesitant in painting a Shapeways version. I haven't painted anything in a number of years. While the Nexus/Ares planes aren't "perfect", they are pretty darn good, far beyond good for the tabletop!

I really like their Dr.I, but I had to go with the D.VIII.
